We have alot of history and alot of media attention (mostly as a result of bad shit) but we've been running on fumes since 2002. That's 12 years ago people and we've lost the "real" swagger...oh we seem to have plenty of false swagger but nothing to back it up. We are dangerously close to becoming another Notre Dame a team with a rich heritage but little else. I'm just not sure Urbie is the coach we were all sold he was and 8 or 9 wins is probably it for 2014. And the rest of the country will say "So What?"
Give me your top 5.

Ohio State has the best winning percentage of any team in the BCS era(.793), 2nd in wins(161), most BCS bowl wins(6) and most BCS bowl appearances(10), and a national title.

But yes, somehow a loss to Va Tech with a raw inexperienced team = no longer top 5 program. Grow up.

He said year-in and year-out which suggests the team is a top five team every year. And my point was that he looks wrong this year.

Ohio State is historically (including recent history) a great program. They aren't an elite team this year for multiple reasons. Your BS about how they are going to blow everyone out makes you appear to not know much.

Exactly. They are a top 5 program. If you do not know what the means, then it is clear that you do not know much.

Please grow up.

I already did.

...and to Sleepster - those stats are the smoke & mirrors I was talking about. Wins against fellow B1Gs are meaningless in today's CFB landscape, they have become the peso of CFB currency. A meaningless BCS Bowl win over a toothless Arkansas team coupled with 3 almost back to back embarrasing losses to MSU, Clem & VT...my God 2 COUNT 'EM, 2 straight to the ACC which was the only thing keeping the B1G from being on par with the MAC or Conf USA. We are in trouble people and as long as you wear your buckeye beanie and scarlet & grey glasses and refuse to acknowledge what's happening this shit is going to get worse real fast.

Good to know you enjoy subjectiveness in determining your top 5. B1G so weak that it could only manage a .500 winning percentage against the SEC. Nice to know ESPN's multi-billion deal bias has permeated you in every way.

I hope Urban unleashes the dark side of hell against KSU this Saturday. I want to blow out and beat down KSU as bad as we beat down Navy.

Crazy rumor going around Columbus inner football circles that Braxton Miller maybe headed towards OR next year for his final year of eligibility and Urbie is encouraging it.

Certainly not great competition, but to NOT slip up in the regular season, when everyone is giving you their best shot, is in fact, NOT that easy of a task. Even with that above schedule. Add in a shitty defense for two years as well. Anyone who has played a sport, or coached, certainly knows this.
In my opinion, there's not a single other team in the country that's in such a situation like Ohio State (ie, a power team in a weak conference & a soft out of conference schedule with a rich program tradition) other than maybe Florida State. And look at how their season turned out last year. Of course no one is going to go unscathed in the SEC. The Pac-12 is too tough. And the BIG X12 has no dominant team.

We are no longer in the same conversation with Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, FL St and OR. Like it or not we are in that second tier of programs lumped in with GA, A&M, USC, TX, FL, ND, MSU, Stan and maybe a couple others that annually year in & year out play in the higher level bowl games. But what I'm concerned about is if we are honest with ourselves (not Sleeper delusional) we are probably at the lower end of that second tier and have been winning with smoke & mirrors for a few years now.

Agreed.

Hell the MAC came within a minute of taking 3 out of 4 from the B1G last week. Quite frankly Penn State's 20-3 win over Akron in State College wasn't particularly all that impressive either. That coupled with Ohio State's 2nd straight loss to an ACC opponent, Nebraska's struggles against McNeese State, etc. are all telling me that the B1G is clinging precariously to the bottom rung of the so-called "Power 5" conferences.

Take heart Buckeye fans, the B1G is now the best mid-major conference in Division 1 CFB. : thumbup:

Word is Urbie has already told him Barret and the QB recruit they are concentrating on will be the QBs and if he wants to play that exact position he should be looking elsewhere.

It's the guy who picks up Urbie's neighbor's best friend's dry cleaning. It's solid. and in a couple days you're all gonna say "Damn, that fkg Tiernan was right again."
