The way our O line played, it mattered little who was back there...and what happened to our "new look" secondary? laughablerobj55;1651461 wrote:People still think JT is the for sure starter next year over a returning Braxton? lol

I hope the Urbie love-Fest is over people and you all realize he was out coached by an 80 yr old hill-jack from hicktown. Poor prep, poor plan, poor adjustments and incredibly poor execution resulted in a national TV audience ass-kicking...but By God lets show fkg LeBron James on the god damn sidelines as many fkg times as we fkg possibly can. Most embarrassing loss ever.

The most embarrassing loss ever happened on January 8, 2007 in front of a world-wide audience against a team coached by Urban Meyer.Tiernan;1651482 wrote:I hope the Urbie love-Fest is over people and you all realize he was out coached by an 80 yr old hill-jack from hicktown. You're an idiot. Barrett could have played better but was hardly the reason for the L. How many games did Braxton win his freshman season?SportsAndLady;1651214 wrote:Wonder if pick still feels Barrett will lead us to the title game.

With all the problems elsewhere, it should be noted our place kicking most certainly needs some improvement... We sure could have used those two earlier missed field goals and the kick out of bounds at such a critical point of a game did not help.
That said, the play of the defensive secondary as well as the and offensive line was absolutely horrifying.... With particular emphasis on the offense of line that could neither open holes for the running game nor protect the quarterback. The receiving corps could not shake single man-to-man coverage .
Sooooo many things wrong where do you even begin to start?

This, in a nutshell, is why we lost, and will continue to struggle unless some drastic changes are made.HitsRus;1651496 wrote:

I'm so confused as why no one anywhere, not just on here, is talking about how out coached we were when it came to our offensive game plan. I understand couldn't run against them, but how do we not adjust the WR routes at all when he's getting pressured every single play? Long developing routes will and did get us nothing.

O-line: F Nothing to say except horrible.
Receivers: F How can a group of D1 scholarship receivers be so inept at the basic skill of catching the ball?
Backs: D- A couple of good runs, didn't have much to work with, but... Too many cooks in the kitchen, Urban, pick two and coach them up.
Quarterback: D+ At the first sign of pressure, it turned into a running play, needs to keep his eyes downfield. Coaches need to remember that a pass play doesn't have to be 30 yards or more.
D-line: D+ Decent against run, not enough pressure against the pass, and let their QB escape too often when they did get close to him.
Linebackers: C Lee was the best player for tOSU in the entire game, others were solid
D-backs: F What's to say?
Special teams: F Horrid in all aspects
Fans: F-------- Thousands of fans sprinting for the exits with five minutes left in a game where one score means a tie game. Can we stop pretending that we're an elite fan base?

^ % of the crowd leaves early means the fanbase isn't elite? How smug do you sound?
What fanbase is so elite to you then? And I better not find ANY of their fans leaving a game early.

Yes, because a handful of fans leaving would be equivalent to thousands leaving.SportsAndLady;1651535 wrote:^ % of the crowd leaves early means the fanbase isn't elite? How smug do you sound?

Not sure smug would be the correct word in the context of my post. To be smug would imply that I'm happy about it.
Edit: Didn't even mention that VT's 6-8000 fans were louder than the home crowd a good amount of the time.

It would have most certainly mattered because VaTech wouldn't have stacked the line nor been able to blitz as much as they did had Miller been there. But yes, the Oline was horrid. And no, I wasn't happy with our defense at all. BUT, when your offense is 3 and out, the defense rarely has a chance to rest or make adjustments.vball10set;1651479 wrote:The way our O line played, it mattered little who was back there...and what happened to our "new look" secondary? laughable
But just an all around horrid game on both sides basically. As I thought though, Barrett has a LONG way to go, especially reading defenses. But that's not unexpected with his inexperience.

Just stop. OSU absolutely has an elite fanbase. Just because a few fans leave early means jackshit.

Agree with your grades of the oline and WR....that in itself gives the QB to be anything...but agree he was very bad.queencitybuckeye;1651532 wrote:O-line: F Nothing to say except horrible.

Said nor implied that. OTOH, when easily 10% or more of a crowd takes off in a one score game, you're out of the discussion.SportsAndLady;1651546 wrote:So every fan staying the entire game = elite fanbase?
Few != thousands. It was a poor argument the first time you used it, and it didn't get better with age. With the success the program, it's understandable why there are a good number of fairweather, entitled fans, but knowing why doesn't change the fact that it's so.Just stop.
