Precisely. I think I subscribe to the fact that most people are inherently lazy and resistant to change. And such people do not handle adversity well, which is very different from saying the deck is stacked against them. Opportunity rarely finds people, but rather successful people seek it out. The unsuccessful make excuses - that's an absolute truth, IMO.Pick6;1648145 wrote:ANYONE can graduate high school and ANYONE can go to college. Hold yourself accountable.
One can simply not enter the workforce @18-20 and continue to be ignorant that good work and attendance is required. Some people grow-up and strap-up, while others give-up.
Put another way, most people choose the path of least resistance. The povery "stricken" is not different in that regard from the middle class worker mired in mediocrity - both simply played the hand dealt and went no further because of a lack of competitive desire. It's truthfully an entitlement mentality that one has little to no control over their success. Nobody aspires to or is content to be in the 47%, but most aren't willing to make the commitment to get in the top half....and when it's not given to them, then the game must be rigged. By externalizing success, it's easier to ignore the necessary changes.
