I have to agree with Tiernan. I've only ever heard of hernia's getting truly fixed from surgery.

Through played sports/being active constantly since I was about 8 until now, I've somehow managed to avoid any serious injuries. I broke my right index finger in two places freshman year of basketball and hyper extended my right knee my junior year of football. I never told the coaches about the hyper extension though because I was in competition for a starting spot. It worked out.

Take this hernia shit seriously. A friend of mine's husband had a hernia in his back rupture and it did something to his spine. He's now paralyzed from the waist down.

It sounds like he had a spinal disc herniation. This thread has been talking about inguinal and sports hernias, which are mostly uncomfortable, somewhat painful, and if left untreated could eventually cause a strangulated bowel. Would not contribute to paralysis, though.

I don't know if PT can heal it or not. I can tell you I have a friend that played 4 years of College football and had that surgery twice during his time. Both went really well and happened in the offseason and he never missed anything. He swears by it.

Good Luck

Thanks. : thumbup:

I bruised my pelvic bone right in the bladder area about 10 years ago and thought for sure it was a hernia. I waited a couple of days then went to the doctor. Told him that I thought I had a hernia. He did a few tests on me and ruled the hernia out. He told me that I had either torn a lower ab muscle or bruised my pelvis. Saw a second doctor a few days later and he confirmed a bruised pelvis. Nagging injury that took a few months to fully heal before I was completely pain free.

That's the real danger. I had a co-worker die 20 years ago from an untreated hernia that strangulated the bowel and caused a massive infection. She was overweight, diabetic, and knew she had a hernia, and she refused to take care of any of them. By the time the infection took hold and she realized she couldn't put it off, it was too late.
