What community college did you attend?
Same one you did though I came out knowing one doesn't contract cancer.

And I'm not going to bother with your initial statement because it's just fucking stupid.

Why not? Because you don't yourself understand why you nominate those with a relatively curable disease a 'hero' or inspirational? What makes cancer special; do you feel the same way about those diagnosed with heart disease?

I don't feel that way at all. My issue is with your continued "hey look at me, I have a controversial opinion" on something that has no real world implications whatsoever. Seriously, everything that is wrong with society and you're on here blathering about anointed cancer victims.

Actually what's wrong with society can be directly attributed to people who don't think for themselves and buy into whatever the media tells them. Cancer is a terrible disease, but those who have cancer don't deserve any praise for obtaining it. Sympathy? Sure. Praise? No. This shouldn't be a controversial opinion but the fact that it is tells you all you need to know.

The point of the whole night is raise money for the V Foundation which gives most of its contributions to cancer research. Makes sense to have cancer survivors and others with cancer give the keynote address.

Scott spoke to that point in his speech. If it weren't for the V Foundation and other organizations with similar missions, there is a good chance he would already be dead.

Most cancer research is funded by the federal government anyway. I'm sure the V foundation and Komen foundation don't have massive overheads and marketing budgets to funnel money to their group and donate 100% of their money to cancer 'research'(which is bloated in its own right).

Nice sarcasm. I'm not sure about the V Foundation but Komen is a horrible organization that not only has monopolized their industry

Why "fight" cancer? Why not just accept the recommended treatment and live life to the best of your ability? Valvano was a complete turd to his family before he was dying and then he becomes a saint - so much bullshit.

Where's the proof? That's a pretty big statement to dismiss a man like that
