So I just got married this past weekend, and we didn't have time to take another week off for a honeymoon. So because of that, we are trying to take a long weekend (5 or 6 days) the weekend of Labor Day. I have been looking at the Caribbean but am worried about Hurricanes and rain. We live in Charleston, SC so the Southeast is pretty much out of our possibilities. Any recommendations? We are trying to save for a house so don't want to spend more than $1500 a person.

You can go to a very nice all inclusive for that price, even cheaper because of the length of stay, but my only suggestions would be in the Caribbean, maybe Mexico?

I'd say do something out on the west cost if you're worried about the hurricanes/rain. San Diego, Lake Tahoe, or Napa Valley would be my suggestions. Or I would say go somewhere in the New England states area.

First of all, congrats, and secondly, try any of the Maya Riviera all-inclusive resorts outside of Cancun--they're affordable and a really good time.

Wine country vacations/tours in the Napa valley are a good choice if you enjoy wine. Then there is always VEGAS!

Check travelbyjen.com for some nice priced trips. Many others say Apple Vacations, never used them before though.

It is pretty much going to have to be continental US for that time/pricepoint. The issue is going to be whether you are concerned about price or time. If price isn't the primary issue I agree with Napa Valley and hope you get reasonable flight fares. If time isn't the biggest concern, load up the car and head north to Cape Cod or Maine. The travel time is more but you won't have to worry about flights or rental cars.

I would recommend the Riveria Maya as well. We did 10 days airfare included at an all enclusive for like $3600 for the both of us. We stayed at the Grand Riveria Princess resort. It was a great time and we even went with the top of the line room which was the Laguna Villa Suite. We loved the room because you had reservations every night for the restaurants which were all really good. You also had a private pool for a laguna villa suite people only so it was never crowded and you get get a drink anytime without waiting more then 30 seconds. I thought the lunch and breakfast buffets were just ok. The rooms themselves were awesome. They had a jacuzzi tub inside and a private outdoor shower that was a lot of fun. We went mid September last year and it was about like being in Florida where it was hot and nice during the day with a nightly 1 hour downpour.

Im im guessing you could pull this off for 5-6 nights for only 3k.

BTW just looked it up you can do 6 nights with flights and transfer services for about $2500 that leaves you $500 for tips and an excursion.
