A fair number of you OC-ers seem to be old enough to remember the days M-TV played videos.

As I was driving along today, I was listening to the radio, and envisioning the video. As I did this, I began to wonder the effects a video had on a song. Did it make a bad song more palatable? Did it make a good song less desirable? Was it indifferent.

One song I really don't like now, but loved as a kid, and mainly because the video was Michael Jackson's "Beat It".

Thoughts? ...other than GFY.

MTV didn't look right to me when I typed it. M-TV didn't look much better, but that's what I went with.

"Video Killed..." True, or untrue? I think for a period of time, maybe. Hence, this thread.

"Money for Nothing" is a nice song with or without the video, although I did dig the video.

uh ok?

Anyway good videos can make an otherwise shit song more palatable. Stick around for a special treat at the end

A music video definitely affected a songs songs for me. If the video was terrible it did hurt the songs value a little bit. And yes when I hear certain songs I just can't help but think of the video for them as well.

I thought videos added alot to the songs. If it was a good one, I would continue to watch but if the video sucked there were many times I just didnt keep it on just to listen to the song.

Hell....I remember growing up staying up late to watch Friday Night Videos on NBC. Think it came on like at 1am or something stupid like that. Lving in the country we didnt have cable an dnot many people had a dish yet. We would try to record it on VHS to watch the next day.

the good ole days huh

Videos enhanced the music and MTV featured some groups that weren't getting much air play in the Columbus market.
