I understand it's tradition, but he sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles.

Seacrest has been hosting it enough years now to start a "new" tradition, IMHO. Dude is young enough to host it from now until 2050... there's a solid tradition to replace the old one.

Its spelled Seacrest. As long as Dick Clark wants to do this, Im saying he deserves to go out whenever he wants!!

Spell check doesn't work for most names, but thanks for the input. I caught it all on my own, which is impressive seeing that I'm 8 beers in :)

My mind defaulted to the spelling of a road nearby where i grew up (Seacrist Rd.). I don't watch American Idol, yet I still caught it before I saw your post. Trust me, I can spell.

I just know how to spell, Is all. As for the replacing Dick Clark, nothing but admiration. He had a stroke, his mind is fine. If he wants to be on TV more power to him!!

Goodspeed Dick Clark!! More power to him! He has the humility to keep doing this show after the stroke. A stroke has no effect on his mind. He knows he doesnt sound great.

I thought he might of had 1 too many beers. Never knew about a stroke. He needs to retire, the only ppl who he doesn't sounds disturbing 2 is the drunk ppl. To them he makes all sence.

Dick is the man.

Seacrest is a douche.

That chick was hot though. I only watched the 5 minutes leading into the ball drop, then I watched Pastrana jump his car over Santa Monica bay

It's really hard to say to an American Institution it's time to hang it up. Like several of you, I grew up with Dick and his American Bandstand. I have always been a Dick Clark fan, and when he continued after the stroke, my admiration only grew. I would hate to see this man of class and professionalism become nothing more than a buffoon to thousands who never really knew him and can only criticize his difficult to understand enunciation. It is obviously his call and no one else's, but this is the way I see it.

I understand it's hard to force him out without it coming off as a hardcore dick move... but that doesn't change the fact that he may need to just let it go. Sure, he's an institution, but what is listening to him horribly miscount backward from 20 exactly proving?

We all know he's had a rough go after the stroke... therefore we all would get it if he didn't do this show.
