There's no "advantage rule" on offsides. It's just offsides.

That is true. The result of the play was basically the same as a goal kick. Center referee just played the goalkick -- if the flag was actually for an offside infraction.

Actually, two things here: it's "offside" and there can be "advantage" for offside. It all depends on what the CR wants to play. An offside where Wondo was, basically the same as a goalkick. If the same play happened between the penalty spot and the top of the penalty box, maybe we would've seen the ball taken out 10+ yards?

If a player was offside and never really had the opportunity to play the ball, counterattack ensued, there could be an allowance to "play on" from the CR.

Sorry for the "offside" thing, just a big pet peeve of mine.

The CR was there and surely saw Wondo was on...he can ignore the AR and award a goal anyway when it is THAT freaking obvious.

I personally dont know how an AR could miss that play, so I will reserve the right to think he didnt call it lol

Hard for a CR to overrule there...not too many times does a CR overrule an offside call.

But, I do agree wholeheartedly, no reason for a flag to be ever thought about raising for offside there! It wasn't called, and everyone on earth agrees that Wondo should've buried it.

I just saw the still image, and I cant believe he missed even more now. Imagine, we would be waiting for a date with Messi and Argentina on Saturday morning, after our nations birthday. I would have been amazing...might have broken all kinds of ratings records. Fuck you Wondo, fuck you.

Offside isn't called until a player touches the ball or effects the play. Once the player touches the ball there is no "advantage". Until the player touches the ball or effects the play he is just someone in an offside position but isn't offside yet.
