Good decisions I made today: booked an awesome kayak trip for my new wife and I off the coast of Hilton Head Island, put sunscreen on my arms, back and face.

Horrible decision I made today: neglected to put sunscreen on my legs

Result? A horrible sunburn on my thighs/lower legs. Sitting in a kayak on the ocean for three hours completely fried me, pretty horrible honestly. I used to be a lifeguard so I'm used to being burnt, but this is next level. Just made a late night trip to CVS for aloe vera and benadryl (mainly for sleep), anyone have any down home methods to rid yourself of the burn?

Hot shower as hot as you can stand...and then aloe vera.

And if you are ridiculously burnt....then pure vaseline, a toga and coat check.

Same thing happened to me on a white water rafting trip. Hopefully you don't have sun poison.

I go through some terrible burns every summer. It's like my body has built up a tolerance to sunscreen.

When you start to blister, pop them and let them drain right before you go into the shower. Much easier to deal with that then having them pop while you're sleeping and end up sticking to the sheets.

If you routinely blister when you get burnt you're doing it wrong. That's SEVERE sunburn...not sure if it also raises your risk of skin cancer even higher.

No shit. They say that even one blistering burn as a child doubles your risk of melanoma later in life. But shit happens.
