Since the owner and mods were apparently too lazy to ever change the name of my other thread, I suppose I need to start a new one.

Below is the link to the 2013 annual report for downtown Cleveland (have to click on the image to open up the PDF).

http://www.downtowncleveland.com/business/downtown-cleveland-annual-report.aspx

It was a pretty great year for the city. The report has pretty much all you need to know about what happened in CY 2012, 2013, and what is currently in process. It also has some breakdowns such as office vacany compared other regional cities. From a first look, it looked like Cleveland is faring better than Cinci, Detroit, and Indianapolis. Not quite on par with Columbus (yet).

Some lists that the city made during 2013:

Top 15 emerging downtowns in the U.S.-Forbes
One of the top cities for Millenials to live- The Atlantic Cities
Top 20 best cities for college grads seeking employment- The Atlantic Cities
#3 city in the Midwest with highest population of non-car commuters- U.S. Census Bureau
#1 Work-Live quotient in Ohio- International Downtown Association
#1 in Ohio Job Population- International Downtown Association
Most Improved Business Climate in the U.S.- Chief Executive Magazine

You mean a report from downtowncleveland.com released a report saying how great Cleveland is?

Color me shocked.

I wasn't aware the report is full of opinions rather than facts. Thanks for the stupid post. Par for the course.

A Forbes list is hardly 'facts'.

Hope this helps.

Cleveland is fine as long as you don't have to live within the city limits.

That can be said about most cities.

Except Columbus.

Now that I think about it, I think Cinci might be okay in parts.

There's the few rough parts where porch furniture gets stolen, though.

I would not have a problem living downtown, Tremont, or Ohio City.

Yes every city has nice suburbs, I really dislike the travel in Cincy, traffic always seems to be worse there than any other metro city in Ohio. It might be that everything funnels to the bridge and you have to go around a hill and not see what it coming behind it.

Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, AKC, Day-Spr all have better traffic flow.

Agreed. 75 leaving Cinci is a damn joke.

If the city could just find somebody to build something nice in the giant parking lots across from Tower City/Renaissance the downtown would be pretty solid when you take into consideration how cheap it is. There just doesn't seem to be the kind of investment you see happening in Columbus but I don't think that's a fault of Cleveland in and of itself. Maybe if the mayor could read we'd have a chance. I think Fitzegerald could've been good for the city/county as far as attracting investment goes if he hadn't been running for governor essentially since day 1.

Compared to other big cities you can live like a king. There's plenty of good food. Plenty to do. Easy and cheap to park. Plenty of attractive women despite the stereotypes from shows like How I Met Your Mother and 30 Rock. Easy access to highways and the rest of Cuyahoga County (save getting to the East Side). Even then, the Health Line to the East Side is cheap, nice and convenient.

The winter is pure misery though and it'd be sweet if you didn't have to go to Ottawa or Erie County to get to the islands in the summer.

I think downtown Cleveland is amazing. My daughter got married there last summer. Stayed at the Hyatt, rehersal dinner at Noodlecat, ceremony at The Old Stone Church and reception at the House of Blues. Walked to and from everything and the pics were absolutely beautiful.

The Indians are on a four win streak, the Browns had a good draft, and the Cav's have the #1 draft pick (again)...so IMO, it's been a pretty good month for the city of Cleveland.
