That kind of stuff makes me angrier than a Friday night loss. That's the kiss of death to a program. Those kids work their butts off all summer and don't get a freaking game? So if you're a freshman or sophomore on a losing team and you're not getting playing time at varsity level, and not getting your own games, why in the world would you come back out next year? Call them scrimmages, do joint practices, get creative... but give those kids reps. Players need to develop somewhere. You can't just go from 8th grade to varsity and throw the rest away.RedRider1;1661152 wrote:300,

I get the reason for installing the spread..we aren't going to line up in the "I" & push anyone around in the OCC...but a new system is going to have growing pains, and with a dip in talent, those "growing pains" are 40 point losses.
The big difference in this dip is there isn't that 1 class that does have talent & depth to bring things back quickly...we've had a few thin "football" classes in a row & this is the cumulative result. There are numbers in the 9th grade....the 7th/8th grade teams have a nice core...there's also a group of 6th graders that have had good success in boys club tackle ball...so it's coming....just may not be for another few years. It's going to require patience....and it may all change by the time these kids are ready to contribute at the varsity level.
Anyone with half a brain can see our numbers in the junior & sophomore class. It's really thin. We may not have 20 kids TOTAL in 10th-12th grades next year. Not sure Nick Saban could right the ship.
"Clearing house" sounds easy until you look at reality. It means you'd have to find ~10 new coaches (already in the school system preferably) and that's just not realistic. Most of our coaches played here & in college..they're some of the last connections to our great years...and they know football....and they're willing to put in the time required....some volunteer to go through all this. They should be thanked....not replaced.
As of today, the remaining 2 JV games of the season have been cancelled due to numbers/injuries. That's concerning because the frosh/soph we do have don't get reps. It's a vicious cycle.
