Red Rider Nation,
If you take a look at history both athletically and socially, individuals who stand on a hillside and yell with vigor and discontent their stance on any subject without internalizing and evaluating all possible influential factors….. Well, those kinds of “movements” look and feel empty, careless, angry and quite often a symptom of something else. Now I am not trying to sound derogatory towards you or your viewpoint but you have to understand your tone and methods are more Jerry Springer than Dr. King. And I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way but the contrast is needed to make a point here.
When I played ball, I bet I could have gotten a dozen people who didn’t agree with coach Mac together to “protest”. And I am sure It will be pretty easy to get some parents and athletes who feel disenchanted with the treatment of his or her son to show up and make their voices known. By making that statement I am not saying that they were not BUT The REAL test for you is if you can get a number of people with “football credentials” to support your viewpoint…. No different than the court of law, witnesses that have had a negative interaction with the accused are more often than not dismissed from testifying.
Keep in mind that the personal attacks (even the ones you feel are warranted), make everything you are trying to do lose momentum with most people. If you want to be taken seriously then you should act like it. It is a shame you can’t find a way to focus all this energy in a more positive way but we are all built differently. I will curiously await the outcome of your current efforts…. Should be interesting? We should meet at the old house and talk it over a game of horse!
