Oladipo was better than Waiters last year playing completely out of position.Pick6;1618084 wrote:who cares, Oladipo isn't going to be much better than Dion, if at all. It would have been a dumb pick. I personally wanted them to go with Noel, but I'm not ready to give up on Bennett. He showed some flashes. He doesn't need to be a superstar, just an above average role player.

Why do you guys think Embiid is going to be a bust?
Honestly, did you watch him play? I mean it's his third year of playing fucking basketball, and he's dominating. I want him #1.

He will own if healthy. Bad backs with 7' is a scary thought though. If you are 3rd, and he falls, its a no brainer. But with Wiggins on the board, you just take him and dont think twice.SportsAndLady;1618092 wrote:Why do you guys think Embiid is going to be a bust?

I was not/am not very high on Oladipo, but I would still prefer him to Waiters or Bennett.Laley23;1618081 wrote:I think its Mulva....
I don't think I hated him, though. Just thought he was an overrated defender and didn't have a very high ceiling.

Like Laley said, nothing to do with playing ability.SportsAndLady;1618092 wrote:Why do you guys think Embiid is going to be a bust?

Numbers are identical, but Id give a slight edge to VO.Pick6;1618090 wrote:I disagree. virtually identical.
But, considering how much more involved in a game VO is, how much better defensively, and the fact he was playing PG for the first time ever, I think he wins going away. Also has a tremendous upside that I dont see with Waiters. I liked the pick for the Cavs when they made it, but I wouldve drafted over him with Oladipo in a heartbeat.
I know people think I am biased, but in 2 years (Oladipos 3rd), we will see exactly what he can do. He is too good combined with too much athleticism to not be a very, very good player in the league.

If it were my choice, I'd go with Wiggins. I would stay away from Embiid in the #1 spot due to health concerns. You can't draft a Greg Oden, not after Bennett flopped last year. Too much of a risk. I would take Wiggins over Parker as I think Wiggins has a better defensive game than Parker does. When Wiggins guarded Parker int he Champions Classic, he shut him down.

Hopefully the Cavs have Embiid going through extensive medicial testing. Make sure nothing structurally wrong with that back. If every thing checks out ok, then he should be the selection. But if even the smallest red flag with his back, then they need to look at Wiggins/Parker.

Wiggins please. Do not take a big man with back issues.

Embiid, if 100% healthy, has a chance to be one of the best players in the NBA. You don't pass on that, if you feel there are no health concerns.

Even after testing the Blazers picked up Oden though.
Don't see a need to even take the risk when you have 2 sure thing wing players in Wiggins n Parker. If Embiid never had any injuries It'd be a legit debate but I think that issue pretty much sealed his fate as not going #1.(at least for Cleveland's sake I hope so)

I don't recall Oden having knee injuries before the major one.KB0938;1618104 wrote:Even after testing the Blazers picked up Oden though.

Any player is one freak accident away from being forever injured like Oden. Could happen to any player, even athletic wings, look at Shaun Livingston, he's just now getting back to a decent player like 6 years post accident.
You can't let Oden scare you off of a player. If the back is healthy, and no other red flags Embiid established himself as the #1 pick with his play this year.

Also, Anthony Davis had health concerns, and he is doing just fine.

Cavs need a wing. Take a wing.

a 7 footer with a back injury even if he gets cleared by doctors is much more likely to get hurt however than a wing player w no.injuries to speak of really. Big guys 7 foot n above have always been more injury prone.
The upside on Wiggins is just as high IMO and less risk, that's all I'm sayin

Would Lebron more strongly consider a return to Cleveland now knowing he gets Kyrie with Wiggins/Parker?

I'll be happy with either one, as long as they due their due diligence on his back.KB0938;1618110 wrote:a 7 footer with a back injury even if he gets cleared by doctors is much more likely to get hurt however than a wing player w no.injuries to speak of really. Nobody is 100% sure thing aside from Bron really. But Wiggins is a pretttty damn safe betSportsAndLady;1618108 wrote:Wiggins is no sure thing.

If Embiid's back checks out I think it'll be tough to pass another high potential center. Didn't take Jonas V in 2010 or Drummond in 2011. Embiid looks to have greater potential than those two IMO so as long as he's healthy I think they go with him. I can see a case made for Wiggins/Embiid/Parker and won't be upset with who we get out of the three.

I watched every single game of his (outside of like 2 early games that weren't televised), he is not a safe bet. He disappears in games, and often looks confused on offense.KB0938;1618114 wrote:Nobody is 100% sure thing aside from Bron really. But Wiggins is a pretttty damn safe bet

I can't say toooo much on Embiid as i didn't see him play that often, just a handful of times. But from watching him,and lookin at the box scores he doesn't seem to be a sure thing himself and couple that w a back injury for a 7 footer and id just feel safer if.I were Cleveland taking Wiggins
Either way, having this decision to make is a very good problem for Cleveland Lol
