When did the league year start?

Seems kind of doubtful that the Cavs could have lost the MLE. They would have had to be under the salary cap including all cap holds. Deng alone should have been almost $20 mil, unless he was renounced, and it wouldn't make any sense to renounce him early for no reason. Then Hawes, Miles, MLE, and biannual added on top of that, plus all guaranteed salaries? There's no way that comes out below $63 mil.

His floor spacing will be invaluable for the Cavs, allows Lebron and Kyrie to create and make it happen.

I really like miller and he had a great year last year and stayed healthy all year as well.

Watched the highlights from yesterday's exhibition. Wiggins looked good. His stroke is so smooth, if he can hit shots consistently this year while locking players up on the defensive side, it will be a huge success.

I thought Bennett looked really solid too. Definitely seems way more explosive. Would like to see him use the summer league to stop chucking 3's though. We all know he can stretch the floor and loves threes, but he really needs to build up his game within 10-15 feet of the basket if he is going to be an efficient scoring option going forward. Seems like summer league would be a good time to experiment with that.

Agreed. We know he can shoot 3's, he knows he can shoot 3's, but him doing so in summer league doesn't help either of us. I'd like to see him go more midrange/post as well.

Nope he didn't. There was a an article from the Plain Dealer around that time that detailed Ray Allen's and Michael Redd's FA visits. Basically, LBJ couldn't be bothered to meet them and show them around. Eric Snow met and helped recruit Michael Redd, including picking him up from the airport. Redd told the PD that he was coming to cleveland with the intention of signing with the Cavs to bring him home, even though he was leaving $$ on the table. However, he was taken aback by LBJ's lack of committment to the team/org and that he didn't even seem to GAF if Redd came or not so he decided fuck it and signed the max deal. LBJ made Allen a tape asking him to come but wasn't present for his FA visit and didn't reach out to him via phone, text, email, etc... Don't think Ray Allen had any real interest in signing with Cleveland though. So the Cavs ended up throwing a shit ton of money at Hughes. LBJ, again had nothing to do with the recruitment process.

He's earned the right to ply his trade wherever he wants to win a title. His hard work has produced an elite enough jumpshot that even at this age he's still extremely useful for 1) making shots and 2) spreading the floor.

Not saying that any of you are hating on Ray Allen, just defending his actions.

I'm not worried. If he leaves again he will be the most hated person in the NBA and I'm sure he doesn't want that.

He could have always signed long-term deal and then signed a new extension down the road when the new CBA comes into effect. I think this is him applying some pressure on Cleveland to try and win as quickly as possible.

Very smart business decision, and makes his letter even smarter, when he emphasized that he knows this team isn't ready to win and it will be a long process but he's committed to being here.

The new deal doesn't take effect until before 16-17, so why did he need the ability to opt-out after 1 season? That TV deal was a convenient, politically correct way for Lebron to keep Gilbert & Cavs accountable.

You're literally 180 degrees wrong. You're so wrong I had to use a cross-academia reference. This is the opposite of pressure. In crafting a new deal in conjunction with the new tv deal, a restructuring in essence, he'll make sure the Cavs won't have to worry about Kyrie's and Lebron's deals ending at the same time.

He's a Cav for a life and it's a smart decision both personally and for the team to structure his deal this way. Guess what what happens if Love stays with Minny all year? Lebron opts out and the Cavs can afford both because of his bird rights.

Brilliant decision, in reality, for both parties.

Lockout is coming in 2 years right? That's what's being predicted. No reason to sign more than 2 years.

In all likely hood there will be a work stoppage. This time I think it will be the players who strike, but I could be wrong.

And you're right, LBJ will only be 32, so will more than likely be in line for another MAX deal, who knows what the max will be at that point, in all likely hood will be significantly more than he'd make now. At the same time its estimated he brings in over 40m off the court each year, so if he wants to take the Early MJ route he could take a smaller salary to help out the team Cap wise, but who knows at this point.
