Yeah, that is a great example though. Iona was gonna be a 12/13, and a team that will give someone a game more than likely. Instead, Manhatten is a 15??? At best? So, that means a 15 is now a 14, 14 a 13, etc. The trickle down can kill the great Mid-Major match-ups. Calhoun has that distinctive northeastern sound ala Al McGuire, which is pleasant to listen to on the broadcast (and he's obviously knowledgeable), but as you say it's like he fucking mutters it so all that cancels out.
