I think Pryor is a douche, but that was a ridiculous suspension.

Yeah, correct me if I'm wrong, but he essentially said that it was his determination that Pryor did what he did to get the NCAA to take action against him with the intent to circumvent NFL eligibility bylaws because he wouldn't be able to play in college any more. Have to change his name from Goodell to GODell if he has that sort of mind-reading capability. I'm sure that asshole would approve.

And yeah, Goodell is an ass-clown. Exhibit #3493850353 in proving that.

Then again, you can see why he'd totally half-ass things like discipline, when he has to focus all his attention on getting players to buy into the concept that, while he wants fewer hard hits and stuff due to concussions and other injuries...the season should be made longer so players take more hits and suffer more wear and tear on their bodies.
Rice will be suspended for the Steelers & Bengals games so, with his whopping .07/ypc last year, don't know if you really dodged a bullet. LOL

My first thought when I saw that the Bengals would not have to play against him was "Well shit, they may have to actually respect the Ravens ground game then."

Fine by me....ypc sucked but once a game he always seems to pick up a 3rd and 19 against the Steelers leading to a score.

@FauxJohnMadden: REPORT: Josh Gordon and Justin Blackmon considering domestic violence as means to reduce their weed suspensions.

Since there's usually no Bengals season thread, due to lack of interest.....

I obviously don't reside in Cincinnati so maybe a few of you can verify this....I heard on the radio yesterday that there are fans with bedsheets hanging off of overpasses that say something to the effect of "Dalton sucks! Please don't resign him, Mike" or something like that. Has anyone heard or seen this?

Whoa! That sounds like a level of passion you don't usually (or ever) see from Bengals fans. Count me as skeptical.

Just like when the rest of the division was thrilled that the Ratturds threw a boatload of cash at that hack Flacco, everyone is kind of hoping the Bengals throw some "Colin Kaepernick money" at Malachi (Dalton) from "Children of the Corn."

I'm not the biggest Dalton fan nor is he that great, but those who aren't astute about how the NFL game works seem to think it's easy to find an upgrade at QB. While it's possible, it often means a complete shift in the direction of the franchise. Such a task would be even more difficult with a model like the Bengals. They are one of the best drafting and developing organizations in sports. They have been extremely generous and successful with finding great players AND keeping them. It's the only way to survive unless you are one of the dozen or so teams that attracts big name/money free agents.

You also have to remember, this a franchise with a woeful track record of fan support, mostly due to terrible losing strings and ownership decisions. Those things have changed. Risking such an overhaul, when you already have a top 10-15 QB, is risking a lot more than maybe a loss of production for a few seasons. You're risking a very delicate foundation that could crumble and send the franchise into the depths of hell yet again.

Numbers-wise he was top 10 or better in almost every category.

The biggest knock on him is winning in the clutch and beating the best teams. It's hard to put a ranking on that though...either you have it or you don't and most don't think he does.

He has big games it seems against not so great opponents...not sure who to compare him to. What's his biggest win?

Looking at numbers, he is.

Last year...

Yards (7th)
Touchdowns (3rd)

However, I'd prefer someone who doesn't put up huge scoring numbers and who turns the ball over much less and has a better completion percentage. That's why he's lower in efficiency ratings and why nobody thinks of him as being great. Too many mistakes and he's done so in huge games.

With that said, perception can't be explained sometimes. Ask a general NFL fan or just a random fan and they would all say Jay Cutler > Andy Dalton.

However, Dalton with 80 TD's, 49 INT's and career rating of 85.7. Cutler with 155 TD's, 112 INT's and career rating of 84.6.

I'd thought I'd heard somewhere that there are only 2 or 3 other QB's in NFL history with more TD passes than Dalton in their first 3 years in the league. He's solid but he's also what's holding the Bengals back from a Lombardi.

As a Browns fan, I always feel we have a chance against the Bengals & Rats because Dalton & Flacco will do something (subpar performance, crucial INT, etc) to keep you in the game.

Dalton is the worst kind of QB to have on your team.

Stat machine, build you up, then let's you the fuck down. Rinse, repeat.

He's the new Tony Romo.
