The NFL is driven by a massive following for not only the sport of football but the gambling industry. While they will never directly align themselves, the NFL is where it is because of Vegas/online gambling and fantasy football.thavoice;1596543 wrote:Read an article about it last night and what he said.
YEARS ago on the puddle I started a thread about how the NFL has strategically placed themselves to be talked about year round. In the offseason diff announcements are strategically placed in the off times. Every so often in the offseason something is up with the NFL to keep them front page.
Now, cuban is talking about games on TV too much....even though the NBA has games pretty much every night of the week. He complained about Thur night games along with SNF and MNF, and then Sat as well at times and think they are gonna implose in ten years.
While I am not sure how much bigger the NFL can get, I am not sure they are going to really implode. Their limited season length is set up to keep the fans always wanting more.

I can see fantasy football bringing in casual fans and even hardcore fans paying attention to players outside their team (or the big time stars). As for vegas, you have to have an interest in order for people to bet. Vegas didn't make horse racing popular. I love wrestling, however I know if vegas took over wrestling betting, it would not take wrestling to the level the NFL is. So, I can't give much credit to Vegas when it comes to the NFL's success.

That's because you chose to ignore the second part of Azu's post where he mentions fantasy, and that vegas and fantasy go hand in hand, not working to compete against each other.like_that;1596781 wrote:I disagree with you disagreeing with my no.

You can't just sever his statement because you disagree that it's just vegas because his whole point was the combination of fantasy AND gambling contributed to the boom. And I can't disagree with that.

You don't just make random "bets" with fans if you don't have any intention on paying up. It makes him look like a douche.KB0938;1596802 wrote:It was a damn "twitter bet" lol

Dont really agree with you on the gambling part.Azubuike24;1596759 wrote:The NFL is driven by a massive following for not only the sport of football but the gambling industry. Fantasy football has helped in some ways.. I dont play FF anymore but I did 15+ years ago before it was done online and we had to wait until Wed/Thur of that week to know you did and it does increase your interest in other games/teams you may not care about. More eyes in front of the screens = more $$ for the NFL. You used to pay attention to your team, your division rivals, and maybe a team/player having a great year but now FF has expanded how many watch the game.
I know millions are gambled, but I am not sure if that has done a whole lot to do with how the NFL has gotten to this point.

I took it as they are exclusive from each other. I can see the gambling/ff debate, but even then I wouldn't give it so much credit for making the NFL what it is today. NBA/MLB/NHL/Golf all have fantasy leagues tied with gambling. They are not at the same level as the NFL.lhslep134;1596790 wrote:That's because you chose to ignore the second part of Azu's post where he mentions fantasy, and that vegas and fantasy go hand in hand, not working to compete against each other.

White's going above and beyond now. That fan has made out.
"A team official confirmed White would present Hoyt with two seasons tickets and two Super Bowl tickets.
Hoyt also will receive pregame sideline passes to any one game and will be a guest of White's at training camp, where he'll sit in the VIP section and talk to players after practice."

I'm guessing the Falcons are going above and beyond just to put it to sleep.GoChiefs;1597256 wrote:White's going above and beyond now. That fan has made out.

That article on NJ.Com I think it was is pretty damning. Wouldnt be surprised if he never played a down in the NFL again, given what transpired with Aaron Hernandez.
