It's not a belief with Dalton. He is a choke artist until he proves otherwise.

Another thing not mentioned, Dalton is very inconsistent. He'll have a few good games followed by a string of stinkers. That could smooth out as he's still a young QB, but that's another area where I think Smith is superior to this point.

What has Smith ever won? 2 years ago with San Fran, he lost his starting job.
Last year with KC, he was a favorite in a playoff game and lost.

He has one more playoff win than Dalton, also KC was not the favorite to win that game. That was a toss up. If it makes you feel better, I think they are both overpaid. A lot of QBs are getting over paid, just the way the NFL is now unfortunately. There are only a handful of QBs that legitimately deserve 18-20 mil/yr money imo.

I find it funny that everyone likes this contract I even heard one ESPN radio guy talk about Smith at 17 is so much better then Flacco at 21.

Also, as of right now you can't even compare Dalton's playoff experience to Smith's. Smith was pretty fucking clutch 3 season ago in the playoffs for the niners. If it wasn't for their punt returner, he would have most likely been a SB QB. As for the KC/Indy game, how can you even put the blame on him for that loss? He had nearly 400 yards and passed for 4 tds (0 ints).

In 3 playoff games he has 9 TDs, 0 Ints, and 873 yards. In comparison, Dalton has had 1 TD and 6 INTS in 3 playoff games. He also is inconstant as COA has mentioned. Looks fantastic one week; the next week he faces a defense that can shut down Green and he looks average at best.

So that's why he catches shit for his deal and Smith does not. Not sure why you keep getting butt hurt about it. Dalton could change, but as it stands, he does not deserve that money. I can think of far better players on that team that deserve that money.

With that said, the argument we heard about Dalton (and Romo, Cutler, Ryan, etc) was that if they can't win you a title, why pay them at all? While Smith might be slightly ahead of Dalton in-terms of value, is he all of the sudden elevated to that category of a guy who can win it all? Could he win it all without a great supporting defense?

What if Jay Cutler, Tony Romo or Phillips Rivers were given the best D in the league? Would they be worth it?

Could Dalton win without a great supporting D? I don't think. As for the rest of your post, I already said too many QBs are getting overpaid. Only a handful of QBs deserve truly deserve to be in the 17-20 mil range.

Also, you're kidding yourself if you think KC was the favorite in that game. Vegas might have said so, but that game was definitely a toss up. Colts were home and the Chiefs were reeling at the end of the season.

Lol I was just about to post this. I know this because I bet on the game and remember watching it at a bar and getting really pissed.

Buike has a tendency to throw shot against the wall and hope it sticks.

Smith and dalton both overpaid. However dalton is a upper teen to mid 20s qb who is inconsistent and only good bc he has green at WR. Without green he throws back to back picks to joe Haden.

Alex Smith performs at a high level in the playoffs and is consistent. Neither are top 12 qbs in the league.

For some reason, I thought the Chiefs were almost favored by a FG. I was wrong, just looked it up. The rest of the idea remains the same.

Even Colt McCoy might look good with AJ Green and that defense behind him.
