Kidding aside. This is a huge story. Any personal feelings aside, I admire him for speaking up before (and now during) his NFL career begins.

In a way, people "not caring" should be a good thing and the desired outcome. It doesn't affect them.

I agree.....I was just starting the inevitable thread on the topic that will not stop being talked about for a good while. Mike and Mike may not have time to talk about the Jets now.

Jerome Bettis says 90-95% of NFL players won't care at all.....while I agree with you on this.....I think Bettis' number is high on his guess. Too many big ugly lineman out there I 'd guess.

Agreed, unfortunately since football is over, this will be all over the media.

I am just ready for some athlete to tweet something ignorant about it, and people making an uproar about it.

Agreed. Unfortunately, ESPN tweeting and considering it breaking news doesn't help that at all.

Big ugly lineman who like penis. A lot of black guys are on the down low and I bet there are a bunch of athletes also.

My favorite tweet so far: God ‏@TheTweetOfGod 37mMichael Sam. He's here. He's *****. Get used to him sacking your quarterback. #whoohoo

Its a win/win for Sam honestly. He now has an out if he can't make it as a football player. Honestly see no need to "announce" it other than for the attention.

He's had quite the shitty family life....brother killed, 2 brothers in and out of jail, another went missing for 2 years and then pronounced dead.

Doesn't matter to me at all that he's gay. I'm just glad even moreso now that I never watch ESPN except for live sports since this will no doubt be all over the place.

He announced it because he wanted to do it on his terms, instead of it leaking. Too many people knew, so it was coming out sooner rather than later.

Also, saw in the SI article that 9 of his 11.5 sacks came against Arkansas State, Florida, and Vanderbilt. Not exactly murderers row there.

Noticed the same thing when I looked up his stats, very inconsistent.

the only reason why you announce that is for attention. And that is why its human nature to treat these people different.

Maybe someone should come out and announce they are heterosexual before the draft.
While I don't agree with you completely on this.....that last sentence made me lol.

Not true, like any story or scandal if you are a public figure. It is better to stay ahead of a story and report it yourself vs. Someone else doing it.

He pays his debt though, unlike some redneck deadbeats on here.
