Yes, our boy scouts at Ohio State don't get into off the field shenanigans.sleeper;1633960 wrote:It's basically an SEC school so it doesn't surprise me.

They do of course. They are dealt with immediately and they end up on SEC teams.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1634162 wrote:Yes, our boy scouts at Ohio State don't get into off the field shenanigans.

I won't lie looking at the schedule I am absolutely pumped about BG this season. Other than at Wisconsin they'll be favored to win every game and have a serious shot at winning 11 games this season. It's like the Urban Meyer days all over again

That most likely won't happen. It will be a 3:30 game that week.

The new National Championship trophy was unveiled. I think it's ugly as hell.

On the plus side, you won't be seeing it on the Irish campus, so you at least have that.sherm03;1635947 wrote:The new National Championship trophy was unveiled. I think it's ugly as hell.

According to a report by The Detroit News, the Board of Regents at the University of Michigan nixed a proposal to have fireworks at two home games for the upcoming season. “We are not Comerica Park, Disney World or a circus,” University of Michigan regent Mark Bernstein said. “I love Michigan football for what it is and for what it is not. It remains and should be an experience, a place that resists the excesses of our culture; intentionally simple. The fireworks should be on the field, not above it.”

Pretty sure Michigan football will be a circus as long as Brady Hoke keeps getting blown out against Ohio State.

That sounds like every stuffy douchebag Notre Dame fan that is complaining about Notre Dame putting in field turf and that is so against ND getting a video board. People like that are just dumb.vball10set;1637193 wrote:http://buckeyebanter.com/?p=28230

I can see not wanting the fireworks, but the field turf and video board? Yeah, dumb.sherm03;1637196 wrote:That sounds like every stuffy douchebag Notre Dame fan that is complaining about Notre Dame putting in field turf and that is so against ND getting a video board. At other sports events this is the "hook", something to get you there...at a major college, the football game itself should be the hook. jmo.

I can understand that thinking. But I don't necessarily agree with it. At the end of the day, football (whether it's pee-wee, jr. high, high school, college, or pro) is a form of entertainment. It is nothing more than a game. Yes, it generates million of dollars. But it's a game and the people that watch it on TV or in the stands, are doing so just to be entertained for a few hours a week. To try to act like the game is too big for something like fireworks, is pretty ridiculous, IMO.vball10set;1637352 wrote:At other sports events this is the "hook", something to get you there...at a major college, the football game itself should be the hook. jmo.
I mean, I see it more of an added bonus for the fans who are there anyways. If there's someone who has no interest in football or Michigan and they find out there are fireworks going on at the stadium, they aren't going to drop $80/ticket to go see a game just to see fireworks afterwards. But if there is a parent thinking about bringing his kids to see a game and sees there are post-game fireworks so buys tickets to that game so his kids can see the show after the game...I don't see a damn thing wrong with that.
People seem to forget that college football is a business. All that matters is bringing people in the door. If a "hook" helps push someone on the fence about buying tickets into buying tickets...then it's a good thing.
