Rumblings from ND about losing 3 starters and some academic issues (like rule breaking issues).

fwiw, I feel the same way about the UNLV and Oregon State schedulings--the only saving grace is that they're both home games.

How about this news. The MAC & ESPN announced a 13-year rights agreement that will be the largest & most extensive agreement in the 68-year history of the Conference. Good for the MAC

Great news for the MAC. It gets them alot of exposure even if it means lowly attended week night games. MAC has positioned themselves well in the midwest with the in between players who are getting some pub from the big boys. They can and do step in and show possible recruits the TV exposure they will be getting (along wtih a better chance to gain a starting nod).

Schools go from less than 100k in TV deal to 650k. Awesome deal for the conference. Agreed, even if it means playing on Tuesday and Wednesday.

And I personally don't mind Tuesday and Wednesday night games. Because, you know, kind of dead-air time without them.

I also like it as well...made it easier to go watch the local kid at Ball State during the week than on a weekend.

Yea I definitely watch them. But probably not real good for recruiting since you probably aren't going to have many official visits for a Tuesday game.

Going to have to disagree with you on this. It's not about getting the team excited it's about selling more jerseys so the clothing manufacturer (Nike, Adidas, Reebok, etc) can make more $$$ and pay more royalty $$$ to the schools. It's all about the money and nothing about team spirit, motivation or the like.

Ehh...you are correct. It's about selling more jerseys. But I don't know many people that buy a new jersey every year. In fact, most people (at least that I know) are proud to wear their old school throw-back looking jerseys to bars and games. Maybe that's just the people I know. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that drop cash on the new jersey every year. But I can't imagine they are the majority.

I think a big motivator for it is to get the team excited (otherwise why would they do these crazy reveals of the new jerseys for the team?) and to attract recruits.

Also...looking at Facebook, I think the reason why I feel that schools do this for the kids and recruits is because I'm a Notre Dame fan. Every time they announce the Shamrock Series uniforms, there is so much butthurt from the fans. So I'm guessing these aren't exactly flying off the shelves.

I agree more with you than it just being about selling more jersey's. For whatever reason, kids nowadays are more intrigued with how their uniforms look. It get so much publicity and keeps them on the minds of recruits and fans.

I personally just think it seems too much like a fashion show.

And what the hell is with all the "I Will" bs floating around? I will what? I will lose to MSU? I will try and not get duped by a fake girlfriend? I will? That and the "Livestrong", "I Promise", etc are stupid and cliche - absolutely meaningless.

No, because you're a crotchety old man that gets upset over the uniforms that college kids wear when they play a game. I am sorry for you. And your family. Because if you're anything in real life like you are on here, you must be a pain in the dick to be near.
