Colds are bad, but the flu really sucks. If you haven't already, get your flu shot...the flu season is starting to crank up, especially in the South east part of the country.

I've never had a flu shot and don't plan on starting now. Lots of hot tea, hot soup and hot shower and rest. Let's not forget the hot toddies lots of those

You're an idiot if you don't get a flu shot...JMHO ;)

older adults and children can die from the flu, ....even if you don't, the flu is 2 weeks of hell. Most of you guys who won't get a flu shot have never been sick with the flu...you had bad colds or some other virus that you can work thru and kick in a few days. If you get the flu you will be sick and you will be miserable for 2 weeks.
Consider this a public service announcement.

Mrs. Hits is smart. That stuff does seem to be effective in putting colds down quickly.

As for me, I'm healthy now and likely will be through the winter. My danger zone for getting sick has seemed to be Sept/Oct for the past couple years. And I got over that, so hopefully I'm home free for a few months.

Being in a military family, I got the flu every year except once. That one year I got the flu, and it was 12 days of hell. It was horrible. Not sure if there is a correlation between the shot and the time I didn't get it, but I still get my flu shot, and I have been fine.

Now, what Belly posted does not sound like the legit flu.

That will do absolutely nothing for you.

If you have the flu, you have the flu.

Also, flu shots are a waste of time.

Hope this helps.

Agreed. There's not an OTC medicine that's going to rid you or minimize the impact of a virus like the flu. You can treat the symptoms of the common cold but when you get a virus like the flu in you, you're going to be impacted for a while.

It's actually quadrivalent, so it protects against four strains, and we use the most common strains from the Asian flu season to make ours. Their season is in the summer. Then they use our strains to make their vaccine for the next year.

I lied, it's actually the southern hemisphere's season that we use.

Remember when Belly made that thread about fixing his dislocated toe and told us we know nothing about medicine. Meanwhile, he can't distinguish a mild cold from the flu.
