@laley I would normally agree with your point but Timothy chandler did a similar thing to Donovan and is on the team. It's clear to me that JK had a personal problem with Landon and he should have put that shit behind him

He clearly has a problem with Donovan but oh well moving on. Some pundits have said he blames Donovan for getting sacked at Bayern. I still don't get the Chandler pick. He had an awful awful year and was wishy washy wanting to play for the US.

I was simply saying Landon has no one to blame but himself, really.

Also, how quickly we forget that Klinsman took the USA through the best stretch we have seen from them in some time. We dominated qualifying and had the longest unbeaten streak in US history, correct? All of a sudden we are drawn into the GoD, he doesnt take Landy, and people start to question him.

Not saying maybe you arent justified, or that his decisions may be awful...but it seems REALLY shortsighted and unfair. He hasnt done anything to warrant questioning thus far, imo, looking big picture.

That's fine but is the big picture playing for 2014 or 2018? You take the best players at each position, not players to get them experience. You get experience in friendlies not the World Cup. Plus no one knows how these kids are even going to pan out. It seems he may just pack it in for this one hoping for 2018. I'd really like to know what happened at camp. I think it will come out after the World Cup is over.

On a side note, I finally found my waldo jersey. It's funny I wanted to buy one off ebay but those are fetching $250 or more.

I dont think any coach would ever sacrifice a WC.

I meant big picture in terms of the amount of players he has called up. Lots of people hated that he was giving so many different guys a chance, but that was a big picutre move and didnt hurt the US.

You don't know if the young guys will pan out, but they definitely won't if they don't get some more experience. That's why I'm in favor of taking a young GK (to replace whoever may be 3rd on the depth chart). And, to clarify, you take the best players in each position that fit the team. It's important to note that. There could be better players, but that doesn't mean it is what is best for the team.

It's too bad Subotic didn't commit to the US. We'd have a great CB at least to pair with Cameron or even Gonzalez. I think getting a different 3rd GK in there is better than taking Rimando also.

I love that Jurgen has given many players a chance. That's something I have enjoyed about Jurgen since he's taken over. I touted it as a majorly positive move from Arena and Bradley. I hear what you are saying though...people didn't necessarily understand it.

Also, it is extremely important to note...more MLS players were selected this year than any other World Cup since 1998 (first WC after MLS started). They have 10 on the USMNT roster (had 6 in 2010). There are also 31 total MLSers representing their countries acrosst he world, enough for 8th in the world for leagues. The MLS also have more players than they ever have had in the World Cup, 31 this year with previous high being 21 in 1998.

FYI reports are Gonzalez is favoring his left knee. Goodson may get a call up.

You don't have to be an A licensed coach to see the obvious. Pretty much any soccer fan who follows any of these players can tell you that. Someone like Brad Davis may serve a specific purpose (set pieces) so I can understand his inclusion. A player like Julian Green adds nothing. If he does well, great. But its a stupid risk as the kid is 18 and is on the 3rd division team.

Fair enough. He may not be right for the team for some reason that I don't know. But it is certainly not because he is not good enough. He is still one of our best American players.

Not the same situation. No one knows the exact reasoning that Donovan and Klinsmann didn't see eye to eye.

Coaches/managers fuck things up all the time.....it's not like Jurgen is some managerial god. I still don't like that Donovan was left off, but I get it and I'm hoping it works out.

If no one knows what happened, why can you say it isn't the same situation?

Jurgen, according to you guys, decided to leave Donovan off the team due to personal reasons. That reason more than likely wasn't because Donovan banged jurgens wife. It was probably due to work ethic or something along those lines. I'm saying that's fine by me. If someone doesn't work their ass off and feels entitled because of what they've done in the past, I'd rather the coach leave him behind then take him on.

Juergan specifically said he booted Donovan for not being one of the 23 best players. If donovan was being a douche, then JK should have said so, and I would have blamed Donovan. JK said it was because of skill. For that I think he messed up.
