That these are a healthier option than smoking seems likely, but I'm not aware of any research proving them safe. Are there studies?

When we went over smoking cessation products this year we were told they have still not been proven any safer. That's why the box still carries the Surgeon General's warning. As of September I think the gum is still more effective according to the major studies out there.
