Not to mention tens (hundreds?) of thousands of jobs and tens of billions of dollars globally.

"It's just a game" is such a meaningless statement. You could say that about anything. It's just a job. It's just money. There's no context to any of it. It's as if the people who make that argument think it's impossible to have more than one focus in your life.

Those jobs exist no matter who wins so long as the entertainment value of the game is enough for it to continue and have another season, another contest another opportunity for people to go watch. That doesn't mean if people don't get mad they aren't entertained by the event.

People can have many focuses. People can also choose where those focuses exist. If someone doesn't choose for it to be so vested in whether a team wins or loses doesn't mean they automatically think those that do are foolish.

Not long, I just hate when my teams lose. I'm still salty about Big Papi's Grand Slam in Game Two, but I only get mad about sports losses I played in. Blowing a 9 point lead in a high school basketball game with 90 seconds left was the worst loss I've ever been apart of, also shooting a 46 on the back 9 to miss All-Conference honors sucked

usually over games not right when its over or the next day. I'm pretty used to disappointment when it comes to that.

If its something going on in life..it just depends. I always get over it in time. Currently grudge free.

It's more like anger is completely under your control. It's not involuntary. You choose what you are angry over. One's family be killed is worthy of being angry over while entertainment isn't.

Shut up, you take what everyone says on here as literally as possible. So when belly goes "Getting anger over the out come of something that you have zero ability the alter the results is a waste of human energy." You should take that as you shouldn't get angry over anything you can't control, such as family goes down in a plane, traffic, you get rear ended, etc etc.

And why would i get angry over things i can control? If i can control something, I'm probably not going to intentionally make myself angry.

So do you want me to shut up or not? First you tell me to and then you ask me a question. Your actions are contradicting.

Although anger is a normal emotion, it's intensity is usually based on the level of importance we place on the instigating trigger. We choose that importance level. A sports loss may not have been chosen to be as important as one's family and some horrible event like you described in your example.

The physical reaction and behavior portion of anger are completely controllable while the cognitive portion may not be entirely controllable but dictated by the importance we place on the triggering event.
