I don't have any fucking money and I still buy my gf shit throughout the year and a Xmas present.

It's not about money, it's the thought that counts with Xmas presents.
When you're married, and it's "your" money, it's a lot different.

I have a sister that's been on short term disability for a while due to her having mini strokes. She has a husband and 10 year old daughter and could use our help. I'd rather make sure they are taken care of than to buy meaningless shit for each other for Christmas. The Wife feels the same way. I want to make sure my Sister's family isn't sitting in a cold house and that my Neice has a nice array of presents. The Wife would rather We donate money to the Local Animal Shelter, where we got our dog, than to drop that money on soaps and lotions for her. (Which is what we do)
Or beer. There's always beer!

We don't buy each other things throughout the year. We buy ourselves things throughout the year. And we don't do Christmas gifts. It's mutual, and my wife was actually the one who bought it up after our first Christmas living with each other. It's not a cop out. Also, this year we adopted a family through the Salvation Army and it wasn't cheap. We both got more enjoyment out of helping a family in need than we would have if we had bought each other some crap.

Even if you did they'd just get stolen off of your porch.

Kameleon ring. Pick a couple stones. Give her new stone everytime you have to buy something for her.

I tiptoe around the "adopt a family" stuff. I see it all the time in schools. Parents are just worthless, and steal their kids shit. Had a girl that was "adopted" one christmas, and someone got her some new tennis shoes. She comes to school in her old rugged ones, and was asked where her shoes were. "Dad wore them to work." (they were unisex looking).

You also have the kids who have parents that can buy them stuff, but they buy cigarettes, smart phones, etc. instead.

Have thought about doing birthstones of the kids in some sort of jewelry.

Nothing. She's a cat. She doesn't have any perception of holidays or gift giving.

Hope this helps.

I dont care about the money. I like that she is happy when I give her a present so I do it.
That and I follow social norms lol
Well at least you're honest. It's not the thought that counts; its the gift and it better be a good gift(read: $$$$) or otherwise you will be looking for a new gf(not a bad thing except greedy women are everywhere).

I could buy my gf anything and she'd be happy. Easily the most low maintenance person ever. It's the reason why I'm with her.

And what if you bought her nothing? Or a pack of gum?

She would find that incredibly odd

Obviously when I say "anything" I don't mean anything, like a pack of gum.

Any dude who thinks it's hard to buy for a female. They have a female problem then.

80% of retail revolves around a woman. I could find a gift for a woman about as easily as I could buy a gift for a dog...and we're talking about tennis balls. If it's difficult, your woman is less than ideal and likely at an unhealthy psycho level, which many women are.

Perhaps being more thorough would help all parties involved in this discussion.

One Dude said it was 'difficult'. Yet, "So many dudes here that clearly need to drop the crazy bitch they're with off on the highway somewhere"...SMH. Do you realize the rest are married adults that CHOOSE not to exchange gifts with thier spouse. Nothing psychotic about that.
