Creed. 9/10. Second best of them all, after original, if you consider it a rocky film.

Room. 7/10. I feel it would be better if I hadn't read the book.

Amy 8/10. Very well done documentary. Girl could sing. Her early jazz is amazing.

That stinks; I was even kind of looking forward to it.

Watched Mad Max: Fury Road the other night.

I thought it was horrible.

I thought it was pretty average and I think they only called it mad max to get people to see it. He was definitely not the focus of the movie.

I thought all of the technical aspects of Mad Max were phenomenal, and I could stare at Tom Hardy all day. Overall, though, I would only give it like 5 or 6/10.

Watched Spotlight last night. It was very good, but would not have been my pick for Best Picture.

What did you like more? It was my favorite movie of the year that I saw, but didn't see all the nominations this year, which is rare.

I watched Spotlight this weekend and it was good but I liked The Big Short, The Martian, The Revenant, and Mad Max all more. I haven't seen Brooklyn, Room, or Bridge of Spies.

I also watched Trainwreck this weekend and it was terrible. My wife loved it so I'm chalking it up as another movie that maybe just mostly women find funny.

I'm watching. I actually find it kind of hilarious. David Schwimmer saying Juice 5000 times always gets me.

I also haven't seen all the oscar noms yet (which is also unusual for me), but I liked Big Short, Ex Machina, Bridge of Spies, and Anomalisa better.

Best film for me would have gone to Ex Machina or Big Short.

This year was a really good year for films based on true events. Spotlight, The Big Short, and Pawn Sacrifice were all really good, I thought. Concussion was okay, but I couldn't handle Smith's accent changing throughout the movie (I dont blame him ... that's gotta be a hard thing to maintain over the time spent shooting).

I didn't see Ex Machina, and I suppose I wouldn't have been surprised if The Big Short had gotten the win, but I wasn't unhappy with Spotlight getting it, either. I really thought the cast as a whole (and especially Ruffalo) did an incredible job playing the respective roles down to the idiosyncrasies of the characters, and I liked that the writing didn't seem to half-ass the less consequential parts of the film. Whoever did the score did a really nice job, too. It worked well with the film.
