I think the biggest problem is that Pitt Brown is nowhere near a Big Ten or BCS level safety. He just flat out isn't. I think the staff has done a pretty good job hiding him so far, but it is hard to play exclusively press coverage when you don't trust your safeties. Gary Berry and Mike Doss aren't back there.

I thought in the Michigan game, when the Bucks started to bring the A and B gap blitzes (middle of the 2nd through middle of the 3rd) they had a lot of success. Then we they go up two scores and go back to only rushing 3. Even dropping 8 we couldn't cover anyone.

I also think this is the worst tackling OSU team in my 25+ years of watching them.

Tackling on the whole has been much better this year, but last week was the worst game in 3 years for quality tackling. Need a huge improvement this week.

That's crazy. That defense was so good. Almost every player on that 2-deep made an NFL roster, 8 or 9 of them had/have significant NFL careers.

True, but that was in the days of playing the bend but don't break style. Then against Miami...they blitzed and hit constantly.

Not surprising. Their rush defense was so good, teams went into games pretty much knowing they had to pass the ball to have any chance. OSU would let teams move the ball between the 20's. But their redzone defense was very good. Dantonio was/is a hell of a defensive coach.
