Tate is light years better than anything the Browns have had at RB for awhile. He follows the zone blocking, lets the play develop, and cuts at just the right time. You can tell he's a pro, but can/will he stay healthy?

If the Steelers stay in the defensive package that they've been running throughout preseason, Tate will have a field day. Pittsburgh's starters were giving up 7.1 ypc when running this package. It's very pass coverage friendly and leaves them vulnerable to the run.

I wouldnt put alot of stock into the preseason defensive packages as they are very vanilla, as are offensive ones as well.
It is still a LeBeau lead defense and there is plenty of tape on it to prepare. 3-4 is predicated on confusing and the elaborate blitzes and that is why teams have had success in the short, quick passing attack over the years because it gets teh ball out of the QB hands before it materializes.

The impression that I have is that the Steelers defense is morphing and will be in nickel packages more than 60% of the time.

Browns OC Kyle Shanahan said rookie UFA WR Taylor Gabriel is the third receiver.

It sounds like there's a decent chance that Gordon could see the field this year. As the link mentioned, it sounds like they are trying to push through these new drug rules and that it could be retroactive, meaning Welker's suspension would be reduced from 4 games to zero and that Gordon would likely see the field this year.

That would be awesome however that would be good news for the browns and im just very doubtful that will ever happen.

I am a proponent of allowing the scouts, coaches and GM decide on whom to draft and bring in. Once the players are on the team then it is up the coaches to decide whom gives them the best chance to win games. To me is seems like some front office types get too attached to guys they scouted/drafted/signed and it becomes an ego thing. Coaches have ego's too, but let them sink or swim with the guys they want on the roster.

Props to Grossi. He wrote a good article yesterday on ESPN850 about Farmer and his puzzling personnel moves. I am happy to see some in the media are willing to stop carrying the guys water and drill down on why he was so incredibly arrogant as to think the team didn't need receivers even knowing his only real weapon was lost for the season.

He inherited a team with the most cap room in the league, a surplus of picks, and yet we still have no weapons, and 20 undrafted free agents on a roster that frankly doesn't look any more talented than what was here last year.

The reluctance of the local media to call him out on wasting yet another year and building for next year has been detrimental to the process as having a fire lit under his ass is the only thing that will finally get us out of the 3-4 win cycle we are stuck on.

I was hoping for the anti-Banner when Farmer was promoted, yet we appear to be stuck with another arrogant, "I'll show the rest of the league how smart I am" GM whose lack of urgency will ultimately lead to a short tenure here.

Sounds like the NFLPA will STRONGLY push for no suspension for Gordon if the deal is done before Sunday (when the 2014 season is officially started). Reason being he violated the policy that is not in place for the upcoming season. Once Sunday hits though, the old policy is essentially in stone for offseason violators...
