Pretty much every team from #6 on has at least 1 bad loss. I don't see people on here complaining about Stanford whos ranked 7th with losses to USC and Utah.

They got their dose a few weeks ago when a studio guy (I think Jessie Palmer) said they should be higher than Ohio State and excused their loss to Utah as them "not playing Stanford football" or some such nonsense. The Internet is a pretty ADD place, though, so after that second loss, people forgot about them.

I do find it funny, though, that a Stanford team with two losses (one to a borderline ranked team and one to a bad team) is a handful of spots ahead of a Michigan State team with one loss (to a borderline ranked team).

BTW -- my definition of "borderline ranked" is a team that's been in the Top 25 some/most of the year, but hasn't been ranked particularly highly. In the "good win and you're ranked, but a loss and you're out" class.

MSU should definitely be ranked ahead of the 2 loss teams.

The media refuses to amend their early season slamming of the B1G and give it the improvement recognition it obviously earned as other conferences slipped during the year. The overwhelming hate for OSU across the country has collateral negative impact against the rest of the conference too. If the Bucks can defeat a very tough Sparty on Sat, the rest of the nation is going to see what the B1G is really all about against an FSU team that really hasn't done anything.

Like it or not you are incorrect.

The part you are incorrect about is that ESPiN and the "nation" as a whole, if OSU beats MSU, it will only be because MSU is not that good. It will have nothing to do with OSU being good.

If OSU beats FSU for the title, it will not be because OSU is good, it will be because the ACC was terrible therefore FSU wasn't that good, and "Auburn would have beat OSU by 30".

That will be the narrative, you watch.

After two bad NCG's in a row (even though one was by 'only' 2 scores) against the SEC, it will take OSU beating an SEC team in a NCG before the perception is changed.

Even with OSU beating an SEC team (Arkansas) a couple years ago in the Sugar, even with the Florida game 2 years ago being a 1 score game in a home bowl game for the Gators, it doesn't matter. OSU could go 5-0 against SEC teams in regular season and bowl games for the next few years, until they beat one in the NCG, ESPiN and the media will not recognize it as "counting".

I laugh at the whole, "OSU lost 2 straight NCG's!!!" They made it to two straight NCG's! I mean, Notre Dame sucked last year, but they won all their games, and they made it to the NCG. Regardless of whether or not they got creamed by Bama, runner up will always be better than 3rd place... only not in the fucked up system we have.

Look at the Bills of the 90's. They lost 4 straight super bowls, and that is the only thing people will recognize them for... for being losers. But they made FOUR STRAIGHT FUCKING SUPER BOWLS. That's unheard of, regardless of whether or not they made it over the hump to win.

2 things:

1) if we beat MSU solidly and then take care of business in the national championship solidly, I don't think national perception will be a problem anymore IMO.

2) How hilarious is it (and why isn't anyone mentioning this more) that two middle-high tier Big 12 programs are running train in the mighty SEC (TAMU last year, Mizzou this year)?

I mean if the SEC is soooo good, you'd think Mizzou and TAMU would be doing worse. Again, it's more proof the SEC isn't all it's cracked up to be.

BTW...this is the last year for the Crystal Ball Trophy. The CFB Championship Committee wanted a new trophy not connected with any previous formats. It would be pretty cool to have the last one sitting in a case next to the 2003 edition.

I almost hope FSU loses and OSU wins (unlikely as Duke is not any good) just so that Auburn/Mizzou gets in and OSU beats them. All that just to shove it down the SECs throat .

FYI on another fan thread board (University of Virginia) someone claimed that Ohio State embarrassed themselves in 3 championship games, it got 95% approval notwithstanding that 5% of people actually pointed out Ohio State beat Miami.

Here is the thing. SEC and ACC people predominantly hate Ohio State, not just hate them but hate them with irrational views. This is why a playoff is needed. If we were to go back to 2002 Ohio State would never have been in the championship ("they'll get obliterated" - Tim Brando) and that fake championship wouldn't exist.
