Because an early loss matters less in CFB. This allows pre-season ranked teams to lose games against other ranked teams and not drop and get a free win in late November. Think about how the SEC could look if FLA lost go GA southern earlier in the year; you'd have less SEC teams ranked.

As the season has transpired I think we can all agree the B1G is better than the ACC, about equal with the PAC and probably not far behind the Big 12. Ill give the SEC props top to bottom but as it turns put they aren't the powerhouse the pundits thought they were in Sept. I said along with only a couple of others on here that if (and it was always a big if) they won them all we would be going to the NCG. Well we are one tough step away but I think we close the deal.

Unfortunately that's how it works. Obviously you can't predict what team will be good in that timeframe, but for the most part Ohio State has nailed it. Texas twice, USC twice, Miami twice and that is how it goes. I would enjoy debating anyone that thinks that Ohio State didn't do their part in trying to schedule quality games. Certainly Cal was horrible this year - epically horrible but at the time of scheduling Ohio State didn't know that. That is better than playing Middle Tennessee State in mid-November, which many SEC programs do.

You have to play someone out of conference. It is a 12 game season. Ohio State's non-conference schedule stands up to the best of automatic qualifiying programs.

Look at Auburns out of conference schedule lol Auburn has won 6 games I believe by a score or less and have needed a miracle to win quite a few games. No doubt in my mind OSU is better than Auburn. FSU has a worse strength of schedule than we do, no one mentions that do they?

OSU is better than FSU. I can't wait to play them in January.

With Missouri and Auburn playing for the SEC title I don't think that unless Ohio State or Florida State lose in their Championship games that the SEC has much of a case for a 1 loss Missouri or Auburn to play in the NC game. Alabama is out of the discussion because they not only could not win the SEC, they could not even win their division. Missouri is not a legit top 10 team, they would (in my opinion which is just a relevent as anyone elses) would lose a minimum of 3 games in the Big Ten. (Ohio State, Michigan State, and Wisconsin) .This is giving them the benefit of the doubt because they struggled to beat Indiana. Auburn is an 8-5 team that some how went 11-1. No one is entitled to have this much luck in 1 season. They too would lose at least 3 games in the B1G, probabaly more, I liken them to an Iowa as far as talent but better offense, poorer defense) Alabama is 1 of the top 2 teams in the country but they didn't take care of business when it mattered the most so no matter what happens they are out for the resons listed above.

Alabama has already played in a championship game in which they did not win their division or their conference, because SEC.

Which if I am a coach, I like having been in a situation before(close games). FSU hasn't, and doesn't know how they will handle a close game. And maybe the ACC is just THAT BAD, thus FSU is easily able to run up those scores. I know the BS about style points. But much depends on the competition.

One major difference IMO. Similar to basketball. The really good teams are not quite hitting their stride early in the season. I believe its MUCH easier for sub par opponents to have a chance, or stay in a game when its early season. Late season, the well coached, good teams should be getting better and hitting their stride and blow past those teams more easily.
And obviously, you can recover from an early season loss...as long as its not a major upset. Auburn being a prime example having lost to a 3 loss LSU team.

The weak B1G argument has changed dramatically the past 3 weeks. The 5 major conferences are moving towards parity.

FSU has a better quarterback and defense. Osu has a better coach and that can help a lot in College. So I think it will be a good game. I think OSU can win but I think FSU will win.

IMHO..its hard to compare QB's. Miller is a better runner, no question at all. And Winston is a better passer. How much? Debatable. But Miller is a dual threat who can make plays with his feet as well as his arm. Winston is more of the traditional drop back passer.
So this debate is not as clear cut as some think. MIller can beat a team with his arm and feet. He has proven he can do both. And creates quite a bit of havoc on the field. Defenses can't just worry about him as a passer. They often have to have someone shadow him. That is not really needed with Winston. Basically. Miller is the dual threat who can beat you with both. Winston is pretty one dimensional. Maybe capable of running. But doesn't do it often and its not in their offense.
IMO, its even and I personally would rather have the QB who can do it both with this feet and his arm.
Defense I won't argue about.
