Speaking of the new gym...it is very nice, however it isn't as large (seating capacity), as I thought it would be, yet, very nicely done.
This may be construed as negative, but why build a new gym and instead of adding an additional 6 - 10 feet of walking space for people to cross to the seating opposite the entrance, they basically have to go outside and back in. Even with the plastic sheeting "corridor" constructed to shield people from the elements, how energy efficient is that going to be as temperatures drop and during a game, the doors are continuously opened when people go to the concessions stand and restrooms. This is the only part of the new high school I've actually seen, but it appears more consideration was given to the Oak Street School "archway" landmark then the effective operation of the gym. This is an obvious lack of foresight by the architect and planners. Items such as this are what concerns taxpayers when you come to them continuously increased tax levy proposals.
