i will ill take white over dark chocolate anyday. Kerouac started the whole beat writing generation so if you don't like his work he still responsible for a whole style of writing. Tarantino makes great movies and before his last two most people didn't even go see his movies in theaters.
I saw Pulp Fiction in the theater and thought the guy was a genius. I watched Resevoir Dogs shortly thereafter and enjoyed it, but not as much. I've seen every one of his subsequent movies. Some are okay, but that is more due to the acting (i.e. Inglourious Basterds). But I think Tarantino is a one-trick pony. He's very good at that one niche, but it's run it's course. He's not one of the great filmmakers in my opinion.
I agree that Kerouac was a trendsetting writer. I just don't particularly enjoy his writing. I was never an "On the Road" or "Darma Bums" fan.
