That's fair. Seems like they just dropped the ball on how to navigate it. I know some shows have a shelf life that is inherently shorter than the average goal, but it just felt like their solution to what they set up defied the believability of the plot development they'd established to that point.
The acting was good, and as you said, the writing for the first couple seasons was pretty good. I just don't get the pedestal some seem to put it on.

I wasn't disinterested. I was certainly curious, as one would be going into a show that is touted so highly. I wanted to see what it was all about. Just felt let down. Perhaps without the pre-set expectations I might have different thoughts about it.

Same with me. I've really become enamored with the show, and I think they've done a great job developing and building all the antagonists in the show. There are so many, but they do a good job balancing them, with a few exceptions. The one villain that they really left open-ended without doing anything with was Wesley. The episode in which he shows up, he leaves very ominously with the foreshadowing of a return. Naturally, it's possible that he'll reappear, but we're almost three seasons later than his appearance, and really, there's been no mention of him.
Still probably my favorite show on right now, and probably on my top-5 list of shows.
