Grandfather (maternal). Dropped out of 8th grade then later entered the service at age 19 in 1941. Served in the Philippines and at Guadalcanal, had a bit of an injury from a mortar shell. Moved back to the States and operated a dairy farm for 30 years, then retired and passed away at 73 years of age.

Certainly not a well educated man but a guy that was always decent with others and had a strong work ethic and never made excuses. Wasn't a saint by any means (he smoked and chewed tobacco) but was overall a pretty good guy.

Most revered individual in your family: My father's father. He's 93 and competently independent (lives alone, drives well, vacations, etc.). Earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart while in the Air Force, and served in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. Plus, the dude has a 71-year-old girlfriend, so we joke that he's robbing the cradle.

Most revered individual at work or school: I'm the only person, so nobody.
