Holiday spending worst than reported .. The Holiday spending is down more that what is being reported via the media. I have no facts, no stats, no graphics just good old observation.
After Thanksgiving dinner the wife, granddaughter and daughters, I do the driving, load up for a trip to Grove City Outlet for shopping. This has been going on for years so I have seen the crowds when the economy has been great and also seen the decline when the economy started to drop.
I have never seem Grove City so low attendance of shoppers, it was worst than last year. On Saturday I went up to Best Buys to get 100 feet of cable … did get it had a better idea once I got there. The place was almost empty. Yesterday the wife had to get some stuff at the mall and Sam’s … (I don’t let her go by herself when it’s getting later or turning dark plus I don’t what to miss the opportunity to shot someone just before the Christmas ;)

The stores are empty, the number of clerks are down, no lines for checking out…. It’s bad, worst that what is being reported … just wait and see when the true figures come out

However The Belly Family is spending more this year than last year. The grandkids are getting older and the games, cloths and electrics are costly. Plus the kids wanted some items that their parent could not afford so I stepped in to help.

I think that what the media wants you to think.... in reality not happening ...

Granted some purchase are on line but not to the level that will change the decrease in the Holiday Shopping Slump.

The hard numbers say otherwise.

The numbers over the 4 days are down overall @ 2-3%.
On CNBC they said cyber Monday more than made up for the low sales Friday-Sunday
Your articles are from Sunday and Dont include cyber Monday

Your wrong and don't appear to make any effort to actually learn what the numbers are. For starters, don't rely on USA Today for economic/financial reports. The numbers are all over the internet.

Cyber Monday sales up @16% = approx. +$300M.
3-day weekend sales down @2.9% = approx -$1.7B

The on-line shopping maybe up but that because many stores forced buyers to go online. I know my wife had to order three items online because those items where only online items purchases. Also for example America Girl Dolls where cheaper if ordered online ..

Note: Sales up .. profit down … really …. never a good thing …

Wow, then the ONLY President to triple the deficit makes us awesome. I think Obama should follow suit then and triple the deficit. Reagan was worse than worthless he damaged our economy in the long haul. Can't wait to see people who have cried about deficit spending come forth and defend Reagan LOL.

" I think Obama should follow suit then and triple the deficit."

He outdid that, he created a debt more than all other Presidents combined. You do know the difference between debt and deficit, right? If I have a month where I'm $1 in the red and the next month I'm $3, well I tripled the deficit. But who cares because I'm only $4 in the red. That has nothing to do with the debt principal.

Obama has been a fiscal nightmare that we might not ever overcome.

With absolutely NOTHING to show for it. I can't believe we still have 3 more years of this yahoo. Hopefully Repubs take the Senate in 2014 (sounds dirty to say that)

But I've become a real fan of gridlock. Best way to limit spending might be a Dem in the WH with the Repubs controlling the House and/or Senate.

Agreed. I've been saying that for a while. The only concerning thing about gridlock is that it's viewed as uncertainty in the markets and private sector.

thank you President Obama, our first African American President, and Ben Bernanke for the economic expansion. Janet Yellin will help the President keep it going.

Gosh you are mistaken, his name is Barack, not Richard. You are also incorrect that he is not your President. With his reelection in November, 2012 he continue to be the President of all the residents of the United States until January, 2017.
