Right now as we speak the American Economy is crashing and the citizen populations in general are clueless.
With headlines on Obamacare website failure, NAS, Government Shutdown, Debt Ceiling and a number of other topics the Obama Administration presented to the weak and bias news media our economy is in a dive. The total incompetence of this Obama Administration is playing roulette every day that the real problem will not be exposed (economic collapse). It has started and with a few events it will accelerate …

I have no facts, figure or false government stats, happy ass charts or even media documentation to justify this statement.
What I do have is business contacts, my business reports, communication with other business owners around the country, my customer in two different manufacturing /business commodity as an indication of what is trending now. The bottom line is simple … limited sales of goods and products, worse that 2009, future hiring and promotion not happening, business investment limited because of government law, restriction, insurance and increase taxes, closing of additional business location, down sizing employees and operational cost and or like me just closing business.

Having a record year myself.

I know 6 people that have lost their jobs in the last 3 months which makes me a bit nervous being one of the younger employees. My only saving grace is that I produce high quality products and a much lower cost than many of my peers. I also know many friends(acquaintances) that I graduated college with that still are waiting tables or working retail with their expensive college degrees. The economy is terrible for just about everyone but especially young people; and its only going to get worse when we have to pick up the scraps the worst generation(the boomers).

All is well here... so far.

legal industry is still in the dumpster. Head count is still 20% or more below pre-recession levels everywhere my friends work and pretty much all of the guys I know that are partners at the top 250 hate their lives and are worried on a monthly basis they will get fired/de-equitized. I work for a start-up so we expect a few years of tough times. Wife is top 500 of a huge conglomerate (think P&G) and they don't even attempt to make a pollyannish argument to their stakeholders.

The recession never ended. Profits based on declining revenues and cost slashing (i.e. reduced headcount) is not a recovery. We might be f--ked.

In the past 5 years my company has closed 2 plants (700 jobs) and my boss just told me, "I'm not at liberty to say much but be prepared for another major announcement this week".

Plus our HR guru just hinted that MAJOR changes are coming to our health care plan in the next week. Hmmmm...must not have anything to do with BarryKare I'm sure.

The scariest thing I'm getting with my connections is that there is no, I mean ZERO expectation of a near future turnaround so there is little effort to expand or take risks in growing. This will not end well.

It's utterly comical how the only way to defend Obama is to attempt to argue he's not as big of a failure as GW. Are these people simply stupid or just that committed to a dubious ideology that they refuse to have open and honest conversations about what a horrible direction this country has taken over the past 13 years?

Hard to tell, really.

Most of my family, who work in a variety of industries, say that things are generally getting better and folks are feeling more positive in their industry/location.

Though, they don't give Obama credit for that, just the natural recovery from the recession.

But, of course, others are in different circumstances, unfortunately.

Honestly, just don't think things are as bad, or as good (depending on what side you're on), as folks seem to think.

And, for what it is worth, i know plenty of Kiwi and Aussie businesspeople who are very positive about the United States going forward.

I'd say the folks down under are full of wishful thinking. But I hope they know something we don't know.

Things are not horrible, or bad even...we've never sniffed even half the recovery that could have and should have been...

And this was a slam dunk - the stabilizations and backstops were all in place before Obama was even sworn in. The crisis was essentially a technical "default", a mark-to-market recession that simply required credit liquidity. Hedge funds and vulture funds salivate over such an opportunity - Obama could not have been more teed-up for success.

It was an easy fix ("too big to fail" questions aside) and rebound that should have been significant. And Obama and his administration knew it, which is why they dove into healthcare and the rest of their agenda - both have been disastrous for the economy and only a Stepford Liberal would think otherwise.

^^^ So in other words, Obamacare derailed what should have been the start of a robust recovery. Now this inept administration and their leftist media mouthpieces are in full damage-control mode trying to convince the Mericun Sheeple that "all is well".

Australia is too small of a market to matter...and too isolated. The Aussie currency has had the ironic problem of being too strong affecting their exports. Look at Hong Kong and Singapore....they are as bearish as ever since the recession began.

I'll give you a quick anecdotal note at my last US employer. In 2007 we gave clerkships to 47 new revenue sources. Eventually only 17 were offered full employment and at a reduced rate. In the last 6 years the business hasn't even provided clerkships to 47 people - in total. They've laid off at least 2 dozen staff (some of which were worthless when I was there so that was probably a good decision) but overall with people leaving and no hiring, headcount is down 40% from '06 levels and all of my FB friends still there want to get out.

That could be an aberration but again my wife's shop which is far larger, far more diversified and far more global is still tightening the belt on expenses and hiring.

Actually, obamaKare is the final nail in the coffin, on the heels of massive/punitive regulatory expansion, and increased taxes. Weathering this triple threat onslaught is essentially impossible. Oh, and all that is aside from the criminal/treasonous acts: IRS targeting, NSA spying, Fast-n-Furious murders, Benghazi stand down/lies/coverup etc..etc...

Yeah I walked down to the local creek today to get my water after of course I washed my clothes in said creek. I lit candles and oil lamps so I had some light tonight with them setting the clocks back and all. Right here, enjoying the greatest economic expansion in history combined with the highest confidence levels we've had. Of course, that is what happens in a free republic when it is led by those who defend individual liberty and understand that free markets are the greatest solution to the human condition.
