However, plenty of people who lived through the race riots and civil rights movement still walk this earth today. Those people raised children who are now in positions of influence and power. I guarantee you that if the crusades happened 50 years ago and some schmuck dressed up as a menonite to halloween party, people would be upset. Regardless if it was meant to be all in fun.
You're right I am. I first asked how long? So there is a little context to the comparison. Apparently it is several centuries. I don't disagree with you I am sure I would be more prone to be offended if my grandpa was burned at the stake by the popes henchmen for heresy. Since all slave and slave owners are dead and the political leaders in the south that led institutionalized oppression of blacks in the south are also dead or having their diapers changed it looks like we might turn the corner somewhere around the start of the 22nd century.

There's nothing wrong with dressing up for halloween or whatever, hell the host went as Cleopatra. But there's a big difference between dressing up for fun and just being offensive. Putting on the KKK custome can be interpreted as a deliberate attempt at being racist.
Anyways I would not get too offended at some dense chick's theme party that attracted some ignorant loons and likely a racist in a KKK outfit. Hell none of us would have ever heard of this if sleeper had not dug this up from the depths of the interntz. If one is going to get offended I'd be far more offended at a sitting US congressman using symbols of black oppression in the south fraudulently for his own political gain.

Even a prince can be ignorant.
