BP's 2013 season was his worst season both offensively and defensively in his 8 years as a regular starter. He'll be 33 in June. It's more than fair to speculate that he's declining.

He did hit well with RISP, so he can hang his hat on that. People say that anyone would have drove in that many runs with Choo and Votto getting on base before them.

Maybe. If BP had hit like .280 with RISP then I would say his rbi total was solely based on having those two get on at amazing clips.
But he hit I thinkg .320 with RISP. That is pretty good.

He is just being an ass, and by his success against the likes of St Louis when he was really pissed maybe this is a good thing for the reds.

Had a conversation with a buddy last night about the Reds and after that I'm excited about Reds season now. Players I'm most looking forward to seeing how they do this year are Billy Hamilton(obviously), Tony Cingrani, Homer Bailey, and Jay Bruce. Anxious to see how Cingrani does with the full year and not going back and forth between the big leagues and the minors, and though Bailey and Bruce were both very good last year I'm interested to see if either of them can take another small step towards improving. I'm cautiously optimistic about this season 100% because of the fact that I know they're not going to be limited to the maximum success of a demoralizing first round playoff loss because of Dusty Baker. They may lose in the first round of the playoffs or the wild card game and that's fine, I'm just glad that I know they have the potential for more.

Alot of people are making so much out of what they didnt add in the offseason, and I get that, but sometimes you stand pat and count on your own guys to improve.

*Meseraco: a full season as a starter.
*Cozart: Progress in his career.
*Frazier: Same as Cozart.
*Votto: hopefully he regains some of his power. Doesnt need to be HR's, just more driving the ball into the gaps/doubles, and when he does that more often I believe his HR's will improve as well as some of those drives will get elevated and leave the ballpark.
*Cueto: A full season
*Brozton and Marshall:. A full season.

There are some dipshits on the reds FB page who say the season will be bad because they dont have arroyo or Hanny any longer.
Sure, they were nice players, did a good job, but I believe their replacements will produce more.



There is inevitable injuries, and someone who slumps and doesnt have quite the season but that is normal and across every team. Health is the key issue for so many teams. With all the stuff that went on, they still won 90.

I tink they win 90+ again, and I am just hoping a different mindset from the manager keeps them motivated and on their asses a bit more

Over/Under 232.5 times I mention I'm glad Dusty Baker is gone over the course of the season? It just brings a smile to my face every time I say it.

I know it don't mean much, but it's nice to see Heisey hitting well. I think we'll need him this year, cause I don't trust Ludwick to be much good.

He may or may not have what it takes...but I'll always root for him.

My buddy brought up a good point on Facebook. He could be fine physically. But mentally, something like this could fuck him up forever...especially with someone like Chapman who is already a little bit of a headcase.

Exactly. First and foremost I hope he is OK. Hopefully the fractures aren't too bad and he can recover. But mentally, I just don't know. He's not the most confident guy anyway. I won't be surprised if he's never the same.

Exactly. Physically, he might be back in a few days. Mentally, this kind of thing could take a long time to get over. I know anytime I've had an acute injury lifting or playing sport, doing that activity afterward, even when physically fine, is very difficult to overcome for a while. The mind is a powerful thing.
