I love Big L and he is clever lyrically and was full of punchlines but he's not in the same realm as Eminem, just being honest.

To be honest, I completely agree with this guy. He hits it on the nail. Is Eminem good? Yes. No question. But he's spot one... Eminem drops way too many corny lines that are more childish than they are "creative". I said this before (and I got blasted for it), but I'll say it again... The Slim Shady LP was one of the greatest albums of all-time, but since then, it's been a lot of "whiny" tunes that really we (or at least I) have outgrown. Just look at the singles since The Slim Shady LP...

  • The Real Slim Shady = more "kiddy" feel than "rap" feel
  • The Way I Am = good, but a little "wtf?"
  • Stan = LEGENDARY. Probably Em's best track/single.
  • Without Me = more "kiddy" feel than "rap" feel
  • Cleanin' Out My Closet = terrible
  • Lose Yourself = good
  • Superman = terrible
  • Sing for the Moment = good
  • Business = ???
  • Just Lose it = More "kiddy" feel than "rap" feel
  • Encore = good
  • Toy Soldiers = great
  • Mockingbird = terrible
  • Ass Like That = more "kiddy" feel than "rap" feel
  • When I'm Gone = great
  • You Don't Know = ???
  • Jimmy Crack Corn = terrible
  • Crack a Bottle = more "kiddy" feel than "rap" feel
  • We Made You = terrible
  • 3 a.m. = ???
  • Old Time's Sake = ???
  • Beautiful = ???
  • Hell Breaks Loose = ???
  • Elevator = ???
  • Not Afraid = GREAT
  • Love the Way You Lie = GREAT

That's 36 songs, of which 6 were more "kiddy" than "rap" songs, 10 were "???" (meaning either had never really heard of them, forgotten, or the jury is still out), and 5 were terrible. So... if you're doing the math at home, that's 21 of his 36 "singles" as "kiddy"/questionable/or flat out terrible. Over 58%. That's not "legendary" numbers.

I prefer Jason Derulo over this M&M character. He's white and white people can't rap(or dance).

I think your assessment of some of those songs is wayyy off, he did do some kiddy songs but by in large a lot of his lyrics are extremely witty/clever and relatable. The Slim Shady LP is great but imo he has grown tremendously since then, his voice, delivery, rhyme patterns and lyrical content have grown tremendously since then. I never understood the idea that people wanted him to go back to the Slim Shady and Marshall Mathers days, he was great then but he is even better now. I think when people say that they just want him to talk about the content that he did then, which was way more hardcore than some recent work.

Nicely put. Recovery was the best material he has given us to date. Eminem is a legendary rapper who has only grown with age and is without question -- all subjectivity aside -- in the conversation of the handful of greatest MCs to ever speak into a mic.

And apparently if he doesn't remember a song, it automatically gets put in the "questionable" group with "terrible" songs.

How do you NOT remember Business? It got played into the ground on MTV and on the radio.

And 3AM? You seriously don't remember that song either. Not sure if you can be listed as a credible source on anything related to Eminem's songs if you can't even remember those two songs. So the percentage you came up with is void.

Yeah, the question mark thing was sort of bizarre. Beautiful and Space Bound were both -- in my opinion excellent -- songs from albums that were each released within the last four years. So not sure how they could be forgotten, provided that the OP actually listened to those records. (And if he didn't, then not sure how credible an Eminem critic he really is.) To be fair, he also said that the question marks could also indicate that the "jury is still out" on those songs, whatever that means.

In terms of overall growth as an artist, I think Recovery is Eminem's best work. You are, of course, free to disagree. Even if it wasn't his greatest album -- which is purely subjective -- it was right there near the top. Recovery was sensational.

Then again, you have stated that Eminem stopped being good in 2002, so the question of who the troll is in this discussion seems to be up for debate.
