I'd completely forgotten about S&L's complete lack of footballery knowledge Scarlet...thanks for bringing back one of the OCs funiest moments. In fact why isnt S&L's admission to not knowing what the Mike LB is, in the OC Hall 'o Fame?

IMO, this defense needs to blitz a lot more. The front four isn't getting consistent pressure, and that makes it easy for other teams to find the holes in the zone.

I stand corrected...thanks for the info.

On the Evanston vs Chicago thing, it's fair to say that NU is a Chicago school. I mean, NU bills itself as Chicago's Big 10 team. And many of the major grad programs (med school, law school, business school) are all located in Chicago proper. In other words, while the undergrad campus is officially in Evanston, I think it's fair to say NU is a Chicago school.

I really do think he was crying that night. Dont forget the intelligent comment of "NU has a good defense". Between the game and everyone bashing S&L, it was a fun night.

Good Ross Fulton breakdown on 11W today. The few biggest points to take away

1. The first Braxton fumble was the correct read. The DE was just able to recover and make a hell of a play. Braxton had tons of green in front of him if he got around the end.
2. OSU runs fake zone read plays that are just RB runs. Some of the plays where everyone was screaming that Braxton was obviously pre-determining his read, may have actually been just straight up run calls.
3. NU was executing the scrape exchange

Braxton is told that if Decker looks overwhelmed with both, to play it safe and give on the zone read.
4. Kenny Guiton would have never made this play

It's dumb to say so and so wouldn't make this play. For one, whose to say they wouldn't, and secondly, whose to say they wouldn't have executed the play the way it was called in the first place.

for real. its not even like it was some great play anyways. good, not great.

All I took from those points is that nothing was Braxton's fault. Lets have some accountability.

He sucked for the better part of the game. We won. Move on.

Really, like why even put point #1 out there. Braxton fumbled the ball, I don't care if made the correct read or the defensive player played his position correctly, Miller fumbled the ball being careless with it, that's all that matters.

Blah blah blah.

Guiton:
#1 doesn't have the elusiveness to break away from #45 like Braxton did right before the GIF starts
#2 People like to praise his decisiveness. He would have made the decision to tuck and run instead of waiting while Brown found the hole in the zone.
#3 He does not have the arm strength to make that throw while falling away from the defender closing in.

The play would have happened exactly the same leading up to the scramble as #45 broke through the line and forced Braxton out of the pocket. So, no, Guiton wouldn't have "executed the way it was called in the first place"

Apparently you have been ignoring the people bitching that the fumble would have never happened if Braxton had "made the correct read"

I think anyone with half a brain should be able to realize the DE made a good play. It was a tough read from what he did, he sort of played them both.

It was a solid play and a very strong throw.

What accountability do I need? I'm pretty sure Braxton is being held quite accountable with the coaches for the mistakes he made.

Lol...6-0 and there's still people clamoring for Kenny G. SMH

Look, we may get a series or two with Kenny just to mix things up, but why given our upcoming opponents. Miller has the running ability and the arm strength the staff wants on the field. Did Miller have his A game? Nope, but it was against top 20 competition, not Buffalo, Cal and SDSU...

Love Kenny, but he is not nor should he be the starter, nor should he have been brought in (obviously). Period.

LOL @ Guiton not having the arm strength to throw the ball 15 fucking yards, c'mon, I know you like Braxton, but that's just foolish to say.

Not my dog in this fight, but part of the offense Meyer want to run takes the top off the D (Northwestern was hell bent on not letting this happen this week) Kenny doesn't have the over the top strength Brax has, that's all.
