Jim Leyland's insistence of parading as many pitchers onto the field as possible is really baffling to me. He's done it his whole career, too. Should've left Scherzer on the mound at least another inning while he was still hot and in a groove. He did not, however, and the momentum has swung dramatically. Even as a casual observer, I find this beyond irritating.

As for the series itself, I've actually found it pretty entertaining despite the duration of the games. The starting pitching for Detroit has been just awesome to watch. Some of the best pitching I've seen in the playoffs in awhile. I've watched every minute.

Iglesias throws Gomes out or holds him from normal depth.

I hate the Red Sox.

Fucking terrible. Leave Veras in, or even Smyly. God we had a 5 run lead, just lost all of the momentum and a shot to win 2 out of 3 to clinch in Detroit. Time to drink

Puig is awesome. Just electric.

Who cares if he flipped the bat and it didnt go out? He got the best result possible (ok, aside from inside the park) for a ball that stayed inside the fences...

I kinda wonder if he would've tried an inside the park HR? Dude can fly around the bases.

He isnt the fastest guy out there, and that is shown by the poor SB%. But he cuts the basepaths more than anyone I can remember. Going full speed, he seems to almost take a 90 degree turn around the basses, its incredible. Way less of an arc than most guys.

He reads pitchers horribly but in RF and rounding the bases you can see an elite burst of speed. I've seen him look like he's out ran the ball in RF going towards the line. He's made 2 plays this year that I don't believe any RF in history makes.

Kirby Puckett was the best I've ever seen at that but Puig is right there.

Yeah, he has an incredible burst, and is no doubt fast as hell. Just meant he doesnt have Ellsbury, Bourn, Stubbs, etc speed. But, if you go home to 3rd, he just might beat those guys cause of how he cuts the basepaths.

I've clocked him to first (yes I do that) as fast as any of those guys. Ellsbury and Bourn are way better base stealers.....I guarantee Puig beats Stubbs to 3rd from home because Stubbs may be the worst at cornering.

For speed running the bases I feel Peter Bourjos is the fastest. Check out the video at about the 40 second mark. He really does not turn it on till he hits 2nd base.http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_04_11_anamlb_minmlb_1&highlight_content_id=20541799&c_id=ana

Pete can scoot. Tony Campana is as fast as anyone around the bases.

This is a hell of a baseball game.

And FOX showing video in the 7th inning of Mike Napoli's first career AB in 2006 and he hit a HR off rookie Verlander in that AB....then 3 pitches later he hits a HR off of Verlander to take a 1-0 lead....perfect play

John Lackey had to be dragged and pulled off the mound in the 7th and Verlander had about 110 pitches to start the 8th.....and I'm not sure he won't pitch the 9th.

Tigers need this.
