Anyone see it yet? What did you think?

I enjoyed Robert Downey Jr's performance more than I thought I would going in. Kept me focused and into the movie the whole time.

I saw it with the GF on Christmas ($2.25 each for the mantinee). We both thought it was a very good movie. Downey Jr did a great job. Plus they left it open at the end for a sequel.

I always liked the old PBS series with Jeremy Britt. I will look forward to seeing this new movie.

Loved it. Thought it was a great movie. I watched it opening night and the place had a pretty good crowd.

I thought it was pretty good, wasn't really thrilled to be seeing it, but afterward I was very happy with the decision.

Darn good movie. Good action for those types, good inductive reasoning/logic for the type that likes Sherlock Holmes to begin with, and some martial arts for those that enjoy that.

FYI, near the end they use brazilian jiu jitsu on the big bad guy, interesting since that martial art wasn't really invented until early in the 1900s.

Definitely liked it. If a friend of mine hadn't suggested going to see it, I probably would have never watched it. Now I'm glad that I did.

I really liked the pauses to show Holmes' thought process about what he was going to do...pretty cool.

I was in my favorite little establishment the other night and an old friend happened by and we sat and had a couple of obligatory beers and the conversation got around to the Sherlock Holmes film which he had just seen. He recommended it highly. He said the special effects were excellent and the martial arts were entertaining. I have always been a big A. Conan Doyle fan anyway, so I will see this film. It isn't exactly my wife's cup of tea but I'll tough it out if necessary and see it alone. I too, am a rather large fan of the inductive approach...I guess it comes from my teaching background. At any rate, the movie sounds very interesting.

thought it was pretty good... acting and the guy ritchie effects were great, but thought the story was a typical "save the world plot" and thought it would have been something a little different more along the lines of a murder mystery.

overall i would recommend it because robert downey jr. and jude law were a good combo.

You're always going to find some historical mistakes in "period" movies and I didn't pick up on this one about martial arts (which by-the-way were a surprise to see Holmes performing and well produced).

The mistake I think I saw, (could be wrong), was the mention of radio waves with the igniter. I didn't think those had been discovered until later with Alexander Graham Bell, but I could be wrong since I believe Morse Code was in use at that time.

It's a really great movie and I highly recommend it.

They left it open for a sequel??? They announced it at the end of the movie.
BTW, Much of Downey's acting looked like he was imitating Johnny Depp.

I didn't pick up on any Johnny Depp imitation.

Watched one of Johnny Depp's movies over the weekend and really saw no similarities.

But, I'm not an expert when it comes to movies.

I stand corrected, but Bartitsu does employ jujitsu into its art which employs joint locks like the armbars at the end of the movie. However, the choke hold seen after the armbars (collar choke from the back mount position) that just seemed out of place that early in jujitsu submission holds. Early jujitsu was all about throws and joint locks, chokes didn't start to get implemented until the advent of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as a "spin off" to the original Japanese jujitsu.

Just my opinion, but I still liked it, the martial arts aspect of the movie was well done.

Saw it over the weekend with the fam...my wife and I thought it was good...but not great...I think I over-hyped it in my head and it just didn't deliver like I expected. Wasn't as smart as I expected....a little too predictable for a holmes movie...just my opinion though. We gave it a Solid B maybe a B+ max.

However, we also saw Avatar in 3D and thought it was amazing!

Saw it last night. Good but long. IMO, it dragged a bit during the middle part which made it kind of hard to stay focused. The British dialect was kinda fast paced, sometimes hard to understand, so you have to pay attention.
