And with baseball the pros can only go if played in the winter in the southern hemisphere.

Softball I don't care for but it seems more deserving than a number of events (like synchronized anything)

I truly believe the IOC used this whole process as a way to show FILA they weren't untouchable. When FILA ousted their President and the new President changed the rules to be more exciting, etc, it was a formality at that point that wrestling would get back in. That's what I believe anyway.

Let's be honest, I am a huge wrestling fan (became one when I started doing jiu jitsu, became more of one when my son started), and watching the Olympic FS and GR was like watching paint dry. The rules basically rewarded stalling for the whole period and then going for a push out/TD at the very end of each period to win that period 1-0. High School and NCAA were so much more entertaining.

Yeah I don't really give a fuck about wrestling, but it is basically what the Olympics started as. Made absolutely no sense to drop it.

I get that wrestling might be extraordinarily boring to non-fans....but then explain to me the distance running, synchronized anything, and any number of other events. What can possibly be less dramatic and interesting than watching a guy run past mile marker 20?

Wrestling belongs in the Olympics. Aside from the fact it's supposed to be about competition and not tv ratings, why must they have an arbitrary limit on the number of events in the first place?

Baseball / Softball should have been reinstated over wrestling.

With that said, neither should have been eliminated. There are way too many other stupid fucking summer sports to eliminate two of the most popular.

Badminton? Trampoline? Sailing?

But baseball & wrestling are not good enough. IOC is a bunch of assholes.

Baseball has professional leagues with the best going for a world series title. Wrestling only has the olympics.

No way baseball deserves in more than wrestling.

Other than the first part of Snot's post, i agree with him. The IOC is simply just corrupt. No other explanation why wrestling was temporarily dropped instead of these "sports":

-Trampoline: Give me a fucking break.
-Power walking: Why is this a sport to begin with?
-Modern Pentathalon: This sport pretty much cries "we are average in everything, so let's combine 5 "sports" (calling some of them sports is a stretch itself) we are average in, so we can have an opportunity to compete in the olympics!"
-Any type of range shooting.
-Equestrian. The horse does 98% of the work. How are these people athletes?
-Synchro swimming... smfh
-Kayaking
-Soccer. I know some of you might disagree because of how popular soccer is, but is it really necessary to be in the olympics? No one gives a fuck about it, because we already have the World Cup. Hell the 21 and under World Cup gets more a of a following than olympic soccer.
