If I remember right it didn't do that well in theatres. think I remember at the time some thought it was because of the name of the movie or something. Def one of the very few movies I will watch whenever I come across it.

There is a quote in the movie that is relevant to your comment. "Andy got two weeks in the hole for that little stunt" You should get two weeks for that. Only people I have ever heard say that movie sucks have all been women.

Lots of people think like me.

Hanks was awesome in the role, but the movie is terribly written.

I want my films to be at least CLOSE to realistic, and when the main character (who would be arguably the most famous man to ever live) is unrecognized and the stories unrecognized by someone sitting on a bench the movie looses 100% credibility to me. Just a stupid set up

This, Also imagine if the woman was mentally retarded and the man took advantage of her and got her pregnant.

Close to realistic like these:
Old School
Anchorman

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Super Troopers
Harold and Kumar
Dodgeball
Waiting
Road Trip
Scary Movie (only #1)
American Pie 2
40 Year Old Virgin

What??? lol

First, why are you listing comedies? Second, waiting is 100% realistic and if you disagree, send some food back.

And Pulp Fiction, come on man!

BTW I agree that Forrest Gump is ridiculous and that Laley's criticism is credited. The guy was an All-American football player (that didn't go the NFL), a war hero, a ping pong champion, and a major industrialist and he just walks around like nothing is different with him. This guy is Johnny Manziel/Bruce Jenner/Steve Jobs combined and he is just a guy from Greenbo Alabama? The story is pure fantasy.

I'm pretty sure they weren't going for realistic when they made it. When I view it I see a "tall tale" that is so intentionally unbelievable the fact that it is unbelievable isn't a legitimate criticism, but it still has a lot of value just from a story telling perspective (basically it's just an amusing story).
