I know we have a few miserable, old Scrooges on here. Dlazz, Tiernan, at times Heretic. It's not really an insult...I actually like almost everyone on the Chatter. Just curious how that works out for you in real life. Or is it just an act on here and you're actually nice and cheerful in person?

I think for me, I'm generally in a good mood and cheerful, but I'm also snarky and cynical. Kind of a "world's goin' to hell, but I'm partying 'till the end" sort of mindset. What brings out the cynical snarking tends to be people like the one co-worker I'm always bitching about who tends to be in the "I have 10 million great ideas...and a 10-cent brain to process them!" mindset most of the time. The type who has opinions on everything, but is painfully stupid and the LAST person you'd want to go to for any advice on managing your life, family, etc.
EDIT: As for real life, my friends tend to like (or at least accept) my snark factor, due to the amount of funny comments it provides. At work, I tend to keep things to an occasional comment here or there and save most of my more hateful venting for online. I like having things like job security or at least the ability to get through a day in the office without getting in an argument with some idiot because they're stupid...I mean, a co-worker because we have a minor disagreement.

Tiernan is likely putting on an act.
Being grumpy is OK. It let's you speak your mind and people won't think twice about what you said. Happy/cheery people just tend to be annoying and get taken advantage of because they're happy all of the time.
As Heretic said, being grumpy also produces the lulz.
