Last night's premier had 11.8 million viewers, the largest audience ever for a non-fiction cable series.

Then they got taken on their new contract...Supposedly it's $200k per episode split amongst the 9 adults and 11 children.

The cast of Jersey Shore, in comparison, pulled in a total of $740k per episode (top-3 made $150k each, per episode) at its peak.

Don't really think they are in it for the money. They were all fairly wealthy already. I imagine Si is probably the only "underpaid" person on the show.

Wiki says Si has a net worth of $8M - doubt he considers himself underpaid ,

Actually, maybe it's better than you thought. If this were the Kardashians we were talking about, I'd be concerned.

So Jase got "escorted" out of the hotel because they thought he was some bum/homeless person.

Claimed he was a victim of "facial profiling"

That's true, their sales have really benefited from the show - I think I read where sales have increased 10-fold since the series began.

LOL, they could have been negotiating for a commitment of more episodes rather than extra money.

9 adults and 11 children? I dont think I can even think of 5 kids.

That's what the article I read said - 20 cast members, 9 adults and 11 kids. Numbers are a bit off according to this family tree, but I don't know which kids might not have been in an episode and which might have had appearances end-up on the cutting room floor (looks like the preacher's kids aren't part of it, and I'd assume the foster child/exchange student isn't part of it). And there would actually be 13 adults counting the "family friends" and preacher.

Would be interesting to know which 9 out of the 11 adults are getting paid per episode. I would guess Missy and Jessica don't make as much as the others, but Missy is in a lot of the episodes. The kids are easy to figure out. Pretty much all the kids besides the exchange student(adopted daughter) are getting paid.

Assuming the preacher doesn't count (no idea if he's been in many episodes or even appeared before the wedding premiere), that's 9 Robertsons with Si and the wives. So either the writer got some of his facts wrong or the 20 "cast members" was only referring to the Robertsons. Because obviously Godwin and Justin have to paid as regular cast members. The shows I've seen Missy and Jessica seem like they're on almost as much as Korie.

Aside from the fact that the season was delayed by contract disputes, you're probably right.

I thought it was delayed because AE wanted them to tone down the Christian vibe. They told them to kick rocks and pay us more and they did.

That was a Facebook rumor, Phil and several others have stated that was false and that A&E never asked that of them. The contracts were indeed the reason for the delay.
