Thought it was a great episode. Plenty of laughs, and I just love Phil and Miss Kay. You can tell they really do have a fantastic marriage and relationship.

A&E Bio says Phil was a crazy drunk back in the day and would leave the family for days at a time. Kay would tell the kids that the devil was inside Daddy and to hate the devil but not their father. She got an Evangelical preacher to do an intervention before that was even a thing..and Phil found the Lord and started a duck call business. Rest is history.

75% of everything on the OC is inappropriate. And no, I don't have a link, because I made that stat up.thavoice;1487375 wrote:Eh....not really appropriate to talk about the underage.

Hey Phil first tapped Miss Kay at the same age Willie's daughter is now, so I guess it would be OK in Looziana.

all the stories I've ever heard was that Phil was the starting QB ahead of Terry Bradshaw at whatever Louisiana University it was and dropped out to start his business.Tiernan;1487315 wrote:A&E Bio says Phil was a crazy drunk back in the day and would leave the family for days at a time. He just quit school so he could hunt and fish. I don't think he started the business right away.

He was ahead of Bradshaw on the depth chart at LA Tech which is now LSU Monroe. But he graduated and as he says "Terry went for the Bucks, I wnt for the Ducks".

Back then, NFL players weren't making that much and most players had off-season jobs to make ends-meat. So not necessarily that tough a choice to choose a simpler life enjoying your hobbies.Tiernan;1487452 wrote:He was ahead of Bradshaw on the depth chart at SW LA which is now LSU Monroe. I cant get it to copy & paste for some reason, but there is a You Tube clip of Phil @ LA Tech playing against Kenny "The Snake" Stabler @ Bama in 1966. Phil looks pretty ggod.

Also, Phil was offered by the Redskins, even after he quit football. He must've been one hell of a QB. They expected him to beat out Theismann as Jurgenson's backup.

Phil doesn't strike me as a guy with a need or desire to make something like that up. He also talked about all of Bradshaw's injuries and physical issues and appears quite content not to have had to go thru that. Doesn't seem like he has any regrets about his decision.se-alum;1487520 wrote:Also, Phil was offered by the Redskins, even after he quit football. He must've been one hell of a QB.
