It really is amazing they survived that, especially with the explosion.

Now GoChiefs was probably joking about hitting the car that drifted into his lane, but it begs the question if the semi should have taken the chance of killing himself or someone else to save that person from their own carelessness.

Yeah, I would try to avoid it, but I'm not running off the road if there's a risk (like a ditch or what this guy apparently did). But I don't really know what my reaction would be, especially if you were about to absolutely obliterate that careless driver.

Of course, the first reaction is to avoid it and I doubt most people can check their options in a split second and then choose. That would be a great experiment for a simulator - how many people would swerve into the ditch to avoid hitting a little dog?
